Sandy McClain, was an all-conference performer for the Trojans and played on Trevecca's first men's basketball national tournament team during his two-year career, 1986-1988.

He finished his career with the best per game scoring average (19.01) in school history. McClain, a Nashville native, held six Trevecca records after just two years in a Trojan uniform and helped lead the 1986-1987 team to the NAIA Elite 8 with a program best 30-4 record.

McClain, a graduate of Nashville Stratford high school was known for his beautiful and accurate three-point shooting, but his contributions to the team did not stop there. During the 1986-1987 season he averaged 17.7 ppg and scored 606 points. He averaged 6.7 rebounds per game, hit 46 three-point baskets and dished out 119 assists. During his senior season (1987-1988) McClain averaged 20.7 ppg, 47.2% field goal shooting, and 6.1 rpg. He also added 114 assists and made 51 three-point baskets. For his efforts he was named to the all-conference team.

In his career McClain scored 1,160 points, hit 97 three-point baskets, shot 36.6% from three-point range, and averaged 6.4 rpg and 3.81 assists per game. His point total was tenth best at the time, and his scoring average per game is still third best all-time. His two teams combined for a 49-12 record.
