2013–2016
Katelyn Atkinson ranks as one of the most accomplished players in Trevecca Nazarene volleyball history and in the history of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). A four-year starter and offensive force from 2013–2016, Atkinson became the G-MAC’s all-time leader in kills (1,705), kills per set (3.80), and points (1,943), while finishing fourth all-time in digs (1,294) and seventh in aces (118). She is also Trevecca’s all-time career leader in kills, kills per set, points, and points per set, while holding single-season and single-match records that still stand.
Her honors include G-MAC Freshman of the Year (2013), G-MAC Co-Athlete of the Year (2015), three-time All-Conference First Team selection, AVCA All-Region recognition, and D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team honors. She was also a multiple-time G-MAC and Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Player of the Week.
Atkinson’s career highlight came in 2015, when she powered Trevecca to its first G-MAC Tournament championship in program history, sending the Trojans to their first NCAA Division II Regional. Known for her consistency, power, and leadership, she is remembered as one of the foundational stars of Trevecca volleyball’s NCAA Division II era.
Senior year 2016:
As a senior leader, Atkinson delivered 405 kills, 459 points, 334 digs, and 28 service aces while averaging 3.68 kills per set. She earned her third G-MAC First Team selection and added two G-MAC Player of the Week honors. She closed her career as Trevecca’s all-time leader in kills and points while ranking among the top players in conference history.
Junior year 2015:
Atkinson’s junior campaign stands as one of the greatest in Trevecca history. She amassed 501 kills, 571.5 points, 337 digs, and 84 blocks while hitting .277. She led the G-MAC in kills and ranked second in hitting percentage. Atkinson was named G-MAC Co-Athlete of the Year, earned AVCA All-Region honors, and was named to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team. She led the Trojans to their first-ever G-MAC Tournament championship and NCAA Division II Regional appearance.
Sophomore year 2014:
She elevated her game in year two, leading the G-MAC in kills (429) and points (472.5). She averaged 3.97 kills per set and tallied 287 digs and 24 aces. Atkinson set a program single-match attack percentage record (.519) and recorded match highs of 24 kills and 24 points. She earned her second straight G-MAC First Team selection.
Freshman year 2013:
Atkinson immediately made an impact, playing in a team-high 116 sets while leading the Trojans in kills (370) and service aces (43). She averaged 3.12 kills per set and added 308 digs, establishing herself as one of the top young players in the G-MAC. Honors included G-MAC Freshman of the Year, G-MAC First Team, and TSWA Player of the Week.
Atkinson starred at Goodpasture Christian School, where she was a dominant middle and outside hitter. She helped lead her teams to district and regional success while earning multiple all-tournament and all-district honors. Her combination of size, athleticism, and skill earned her recognition as one of Middle Tennessee’s top prep players and laid the foundation for her record-breaking Trevecca career.

Atkinson, a native of Hermitage, Tennessee, ranks as one of the most accomplished players in Trevecca and Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) history. Prepped at Goodpasture Christian School on the way to becoming the G-MAC and Trevecca all-time kills leader.
Led the 2015 Trojans to the G-MAC Tournament Championship, picking up the first Trevecca NCAA Regional automatic bid, while earning the first TNU volleyball conference tournament championship in the program's 42-year history. The Trojans won 24-of-26 sets down the stretch, including 17 in a row.
