NASHVILLE - The NCAA Division II affiliation journey for Trevecca Nazarene University is taking another significant turn. On September 14, 2023 the Gulf South Conference extended an official invitation for membership to Trevecca, and the university accepted the same day.

The Gulf South and Trevecca invite the media as well as alumni, fans, current and former coaches and athletes, along with the student-body, faculty, and administrators of the university to an introductory press conference to welcoming Trevecca to the Gulf South Conference.
 
The press conference, co-hosted with the Gulf South Conference and Trevecca, is set for Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Boone Convocation Center.

Trevecca President Dan Boone, Gulf South Commissioner Matt Wilson, and Trevecca Athletic Director Mark Elliott will host the event and address those assembled.
 
The Gulf South Conference Board of Directors unanimously approved Trevecca Nazarene University for full membership in the GSC effective July 1, 2024. The Trojans will begin athletic competition in the 2024-25 academic year. 
 
The NCAA formally approved Trevecca for the Division II membership process in July of 2012. The Trojans then became a founding member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Since joining D-II, the Trojans have found success on both the conference and national stage, having earned 12 NCAA postseason appearances since 2014. This in addition to the for the NCAA Region qualifications in cross country as well as track and field each year.
