THE HISTORY
The six-team G-MAC championship concluded with Saturday's championship game between Trevecca and the three-time defending champion.
ÂÂ
The Jackets entered the final with an 8-0 record in the G-MAC Tournament having dropped three sets total. Trevecca ended that streak and doubled the number of sets the three-time champions had lost.
ÂÂ
Trevecca defeated #1 seed Alderson Broaddus University (14-18) in three sets (25-17, 27-25, 25-18) on Friday to advance to Saturday's championship final.
ÂÂ
Cedarville University (19-15) advanced to the championship after defeating #3 seed Davis & Elkins College (15-16) in the other semifinal on Friday.
ÂÂ
This is the first time a Trevecca team has received and automatic bid to the NCAA Regional.
ÂÂ
It is the first time a team other than Cedarville has won the G-MAC volleyball championship; the Yellow Jackets had claimed the first three in the conferences history.
ÂÂ
It is the first year that the G-MAC, a new NCAA D2 conference, will have its champion earn an automatic bid.
ÂÂ
Trevecca's softball team earned an at large bid to the regionals last year. Trevecca's cross country teams have gone to regionals the last two years, but all teams in the conference advance. Alexa Rippy advanced to the women's golf regionals as an individual last year.ÂÂ
