ROAD TO FINAL EIGHT | STROKE PLAY RESULTS

The Trojans reached the final eight with a fifth-place finish in the field of 20 teams during the 54-hole stroke play portion of the championship. Trevecca shot a 294-289-286=869 to advance. It is the third best 54-hole team total in program history. John Leverton finished 16th overall and his 215 is the 15th best 54-holes effort in school history.

The Florida Southern Moccasins, TNU's opponent in the medal match play quarterfinal, featured the 2019 NCAA Division II Medalist in Michael VanDerLaan. VanDerLaan, whose brother took home the 2018 NCAA D2 Medalist honor, won the 2019 Medalist title with a 72-69-66=207 54-hole total.

The Trojans, who made it to the national championships for the first time, were in a three-way tie for 10th at the start of Wednesday's final round of stroke play. TNU moved up to fifth with a two-under-par 286. TNU opened the third round seven-over-par for the tournament through 36-holes but were just two out of sixth place. The Trojans found themselves in the hunt along with nine other teams who were all within four strokes of each other. The nine spent Wednesday battling for the final four spots in the eight-team medal match play quarterfinals.

Only three teams had a better round than Trevecca on Wednesday. Top-seeded Barry University (280), second place Lynn University (284), and Florida Southern (284). The Mocs of Florida Southern finished fourth and are Trevecca's opponent in the Medal Match Play Quarterfinals on Thursday.

THE QUARTERFINALS

The quarterfinal round Thursday with Florida Southern and Trevecca started at 6:30 AM on No. 10 with each pairing starting at 10-minute intervals.

Florida Southern advanced to play Lincoln Memorial University who defeated top-seeded Barry University. The national championship match is scheduled for Friday at 8 AM CT.

Barry University earned the top seed in the quarterfinal medal round with a 294-272-280=846 (-18). Lynn University finished second with an eleven-under 292-277-284=853.

MEDAL MATCH PLAY NOTE

The "Medal Match" event is scored by the cumulative number of strokes won by a player rather than the number of holes won. Up 3 means the player is up by 3 strokes, not 3 holes. The player up by the most strokes after 18 holes wins the match.

The winner of those individual matches scores one point for their team. If the match ends in a tie, total strokes are used as the first tie-breaker.

The 2019 championships were held May 20-24 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia. The course played to a par of 72 over 7114 yards. The championships were hosted by the Mountain East Conference.
