Trevecca Track | Logan Rodgers Earns First Trojan Track Appearance at NCAA D2 Nationals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Logan Rodgers (JR/Denton, TX) will be the first Trevecca Nazarene University track athlete to compete at the NCAA Division II Indoor Nationals (Championship Details). Rodgers qualified for the Men's 5000 Meter Run early in the track season.

The 2016 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships (hosted by Pittsburg State University and the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau) will be held March 11-12, 2016 at the brand new Robert W. Plaster Center on the Pittsburg (Kansas) State campus.

Austin Selby, Trevecca cross country and track coach, said of Logan Rodgers making indoor nationals, "This has been the goal all season and it is great that the nerve-wracking part of watching to see if his time stood up is over. You don't go head-to-head with the other qualifiers for the most part during the season so you hope your best time is good enough."

"Logan worked hard, he always works hard and is well deserving of this qualification to nationals."

Selby concluded, "This continues to be a learning experience for all of us, but our goal is for him to make the top eight, which is All-American, and anything above that is a bonus. Another bonus is this will be the fastest event he has participated in and therefore it will only help him as he seeks to qualify for the outdoor nationals in the coming weeks.".

Rodgers will run at approximately 6:40 PM on Friday, March 11th.

The Plaster Center features the 300-meter Harvey Dean Track and a 100-yard turf infield. The Harvey Dean Track (more on facility) is one of only six university owned 300-meter tracks in the nation. The track is Mondo Super X Performance; the same surface used at the 2011 Daegu World Championships and eight of the most recent Olympic Games.
