Trevecca STUNT | Trojans Split Final Day at Nationals, Season Ends in Tight Battle with Maryville

NASHVILLE – The No. 8 Trevecca Nazarene University STUNT team (21-10) concluded its season Friday with a split of two matches at the 2026 College STUNT National Championships, held at Allen Arena on the Lipscomb University campus.

Trevecca advanced to Friday's rounds after splitting its two contests Thursday in the double-elimination format. The Trojans opened the championship with a 27-22 win over No. 9 Ashland in the first match of the event at 8:00 a.m., then fell to No. 1 Oklahoma Baptist, 16-3, in the afternoon, moving into the elimination bracket.

On Friday, Trevecca earned a 20-10 win over No. 11 Tiffin in a must-win matchup, advancing to face No. 5 Maryville. The Trojans and Saints met in a closely contested match, with Maryville securing a 22-20 decision to end Trevecca's run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1: Trevecca 20, Tiffin 10
Trevecca took control early with a 5-1 advantage in the first quarter and extended the margin with a 6-3 edge in the second for an 11-4 halftime lead. The teams played to a 4-4 result in the third quarter, keeping Trevecca in front 15-8 entering the final frame. The Trojans closed the match with a 5-2 fourth quarter to secure the win.

GM 2: Maryville 22, Trevecca 20
The teams were even through the first half, with identical 4-4 scores in each of the opening quarters for an 8-8 tie at the break. Maryville gained separation in the third quarter with a 7-4 advantage. Trevecca responded with an 8-7 edge in the fourth quarter, but the Saints maintained a two-point margin to close the match.

The first national championship meeting between the programs, at Missouri Baptist in 2024, went to overtime, the first overtime game in College STUNT National Championship history.

Trevecca earned a 23-20 win earlier this season at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., and posted the largest margin of victory in the series with a 16-10 result on Feb. 7, 2025, at a neutral site in North Canton, Ohio.
