NASHVILLE – The No. 8 Trevecca Nazarene University STUNT team (28-6, 4-1 MAWC) saw their season come to a close in dramatic fashion, falling in overtime to Ashland University (24-8) 16-15 at the STUNT National Championships held at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.
HOW IT HAPPENED
ASHLAND UNIVERSITY // 15-16 (OT)
Trevecca opened strong with a 2-1 edge in the first quarter. The Eagles responded with a 2-1 second quarter to tie things at 3-3 heading into the halftime break.
Trevecca gained momentum in the third, outscoring Ashland 4-2, taking a 7-5 advantage going the the fourth.
In a thrilling fourth quarter, Ashland outscored Trevecca 7-5, sending the game into overtime knotted at 14-14.
Ashland didn't lead in regulation, but used a 2-1 overtime routine score to secure the come-from-behind 16-15 win.
SEASON WRAP UP
The Trojans wrap up a historic season that included a top 10 national ranking, 28 wins, and a National Championship run. It is just the second season for the Trevecca STUNT program. A program that has set the College STUNT world on fire in both seasons.
Trevecca achieved their highest all-time ranking this season, hitting No. 6 nationally. They also finished second in the Mid America West Conference regular season and at the postseason championships. Trevecca was the only non-NCAA Division I team in the MAWC. Their only losses in MAWC play, regular season or postseason, were to the conference champion University of Kentucky.
After two seasons as a program, the Trojans are 46-15 overall with two trips the the College STUNT NCAA Division II Championships. They finished first in the the G-MAC regular season in year one (2024) and second in the tournament. Their only G-MAC regular season loss and postseason loss were to Ashland.
