SERIES HISTORY

Despite the contest not being marked as a countable game, the Trojans and Mountaineers had never met before this afternoon's game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans, sparked by Keeley Carter's early offensive production, jumped out to an early 8-2 lead. Outmatched at all levels, the Mountaineers had no answer to the Trojans' offense. A 4-0 run to pull within 8-6 was the closest Berea would come the rest of the game. On Homecoming, fans enjoyed a little dose of drama to close the first quarter. Faith Wilkin drilled a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Trojans a 28-11 lead after the first 10 minutes. In the second quarter, the Trojans began things just how the first ended. This time it was Chloe Willis who connected on a long ball. In the second frame, the Trojans nearly matched their first-quarter totals by taking a 53-19 advantage into halftime. The Trojans' defense was the story in the third period, limiting the Mountaineers to just five points. The lead was 50 after three quarters, 74-24. Berea won the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans by two, but the damage was done early. Trevecca won 86-38.

THE PLAYER

Five different Trojans reached double figures, but it was Faith Wilkin who captured a team-high 12 points and nine rebounds.

Aaliyah Hampton just missed finishing in double digits, as the high Mountaineer had nine points on 4-of-15 shooting.

THE TEAM

The Trojans shot just under 50% from the field, 32-66, and were 9-24 from beyond the arc. Active on the glass all game, the Trojans outrebounded the Mountaineers 49-38. The Trojans shared the rock as well, finishing with 17 assists the Berea's 4.

UP NEXT

The Trojans host the annual Pops Duncan Classic next weekend to begin the regular season. Friday evening it is Drury University visiting for a 5:30 tip-off. Southwest Baptist challenges the Trojans at 2:00 on Saturday.
