Trevecca Women’s Basketball | Trojan Cheyenne Trotter Selected Gulf South Player of the Week

NASHVILLE – Cheyenne Trotter, a senior forward on the Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team, is the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 23, 2025. 
 
The Springfield, Illinois, native was the Tennessee Sports Writers' Association Player of the Week last week. 
 
For the week, the Lanphier High School product shot an outstanding 68.4% (13-19) from the field and recorded two double doubles during the Trojans' 2-0 week. Trotter averaged 16 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 2.0 assists per game for the week. 
 
Trotter, who starred at John A. Logan College before transferring to Trevecca, has produced three double doubles in TNU's four games this season. 
 
Against former Great Midwest rival Kentucky Wesleyan, she posted 19 points and 13 rebounds while adding four steals and two assists. She shot 67% (8-12) from the field against the Panthers. 
 
In the 80-38 win over Emory & Henry, she added 13 points and 10 rebounds along with three steals and two assists, shooting 71.4% (5-7) from the field. 
 
The Trojans are 3-1 in their first season under head coach Doug Novak. Coming off an eight-win 2024-25 campaignTrevecca is off until after the Thanksgiving holiday. Their lone loss is an overtime defeat to KWC. 
 
The senior is leading the Trojans in scoring and rebounding on the season, averaging a double double (16.3 points, 11.8 rebounds). She's shooting 63.4% from the field and 81.3% from the foul line. She's also chipped in nine assists and steals.  
 
The Trojans picked No. 11 in the GSC preseason coaches' poll, open Gulf South Conference play on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m., when they host Auburn University at Montgomery (0-4) at Trojan Fieldhouse. The Warhawks, who will play two more games before visiting the Hill, were picked to finish ninth in the 2025-26 GSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. They placed seventh in the league last season with a 12-16 overall record and a 10-12 GSC mark. AUM holds a 6-1 edge in the all-time series. The Trojans' last win over the Warhawks came on the same date (Dec.4) in 2003, when they won 54-52 at Trojan Fieldhouse. 
 
The University of Montevallo (0-2) visits Music City on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2:00 p.m. The Falcons will play three more games before coming to Trojan Fieldhouse, including their GSC opener at Lee University on Dec. 4. Montevallo leads the all-time series with TNU and won both matchups last season. The Falcons earned the eighth seed in last year's GSC Tournament and finished 11-17 overall and 9-13 in league play. 
 
The Falcons, picked No. 8 in the 2025-26 GSC Preseason Coaches' Poll, are led by Olivia Chapman, who is entering her third season as head coach. Chapman, an Alabama native and alum of the Southern Nazarene University women's basketball program, previously served as a graduate assistant with the Trevecca women's basketball program during the Chad Hibdon era.
