NASHVILLE - Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball coach, Kevin Carroll, announces a 2024-25 staff addition and a promotion. Coach Carroll is excited to announce Nate Moran is returning for a second season and earned a promotion to associate head coach. Additionally, Carroll is welcoming Logan Gonce to the coaching roster as an assistant coach. Additionally, Will Jennings, Samuel Forshee, Byron Sanford,and Isaac Thrasher are returning to the coaching staff in their same roles.
NATE MORAN
Moran was a key contributor to the Trojans turnaround season a year ago. The played at Lipscomb University and later served as the top assistant at Lee University and started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Missouri Western. He also served as the head coach at Copley (Ohio) High School.
Coach Carroll quote, "Coach Moran's fingerprints are found all over our program and this promotion is a reflection of the impact he made since his arrival. Nate demonstrated exceptional ability in recruiting, player development, on-the-floor coaching, and game preparation. He is an integral part of our success and his efforts are deserving of this recognition.
Nate Moran said, "I am grateful for the continued opportunity that Coach Carroll has provided me and my family. He has taught me a tremendous amount on and off the court. With the success that we had this past season, I am excited to continue the momentum into year two with a great group of guys."
LOGAN GONCE
Gonce comes to the Hill after five years as an assistant coach at Maryville University-St. Louis
He started as a graduate assistant for the Tritons earning an assistant coach position in 2022.
He coached five Tritons to all-conference honors.
Owen Long - All-Conference First Team
Ben Palacios - All-Conference Second Team
Dylan Ingram - Conference Freshman of the Year
Parker Long - Conference All-Freshman Team
Kamto Eze - Conference All-Defensive Team
Gonce played basketball four years at the University of Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars.
He ranks in the top five in program history in assists and free throw percentage.
He is a native of St, Charles, MO.
Coach Carroll, said of Gonce, "We are excited to add Coach Gonce to our staff. I've observed Logan since college, where he was a coach on the floor, to now becoming a professional known as a tireless worker, intelligent thinker, and exceptional developer of talent. He has tremendous experience, coaching in the GLVC, one of the toughest NCAA Division II leagues in the country. He's worked for two coaches I have immense respect for in Jesse Shaw and Marc Stricker. More importantly, he exemplifies the Christian-Scholar-Athlete model and is well equipped to help our athletes learn what it means to "Live Your Legacy."
Logan Gonce said, "I couldn't be more thrilled to join Trojan Nation. Knowing coach Carroll during my playing days at Illinois Springfield gives me an insider understanding of what type of program he is building here at TNU. It didn't take long to accept the offer once given the opportunity. Nashville is a great place to call home, and already enjoy being a member of this staff."
