Fred Bailey, a freshman guard on the Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team, was named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, presented by Athletic Solutions, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026.
For Bailey, this marks his fifth Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week honor.
It is the ninth time a Trojan has earned the GSC Freshman of the Week award this season.
Fred Bailey has earned the award five times while
Jax Abernathy has been selected three times and
Jeremy Jackson Jr. also was recognized by the GSC this season.

Bailey, a six-foot-two freshman, produced a double-double for the week with a pair of double-double performances. He averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 64.7% (11-of-17) from the field. He pushed his season total to six double-double games.
The Trojans won both games on the week, first defeating Mississippi College and then Delta State University. Both games were played at Trojan Fieldhouse.
First, against the MC Choctaws, the rookie guard scored 20 points with 10 rebounds while shooting 85.7% (6-of-7) from the field and added a three-point field goal. He also recorded five assists and four steals in the win over the Choctaws.
Against Delta State, the Hendersonville, Tenn., native collected another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and added five assists in the win over the Statesmen on Saturday.
The freshman is second on the team in scoring (13.3 points per game) and leads the team in assists and rebounding. He is also second on the team in steals, made field goals, and made free throws.
The Pope John Paul II product also ranks highly in several Gulf South Conference statistical categories. He is No. 3 in assists, No. 9 in rebounding, No. 9 in free throw percentage, No. 9 in field goal percentage, No. 10 in steals, and No. 17 in scoring.
The freshman ranks No. 36 nationally in assists.
Bailey, who played for Trevecca graduate and Trojan basketball alum Charles Wade, has scored in double figures 21 times this season and has three 20-plus-point games.
In his first season at the helm, Trevecca head coach Nate Moran has the Trojans at 17-9 overall and sitting in fifth place in the Gulf South Conference with a 12-8 record. The team was picked eighth in the preseason GSC coaches' poll. The Trojans clinched a bid to the GSC Championships for the second consecutive season. It marks the third straight season the Trojans have reached their conference postseason tournament. TNU advanced to the conference championships in its final year in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (2023-24). Trevecca joined the GSC in 2024-25.
Bailey and the Trojans hit the road for their final two regular-season games. Both contests are in West Tennessee, where TNU will face two of its longest rivals. First is Union University (10-16, 6-14 GSC) on Wednesday, Feb. 25. A matchup with Christian Brothers (5-19, 4-16 GSC) on Friday, Feb. 27, completes the regular season.
The Trojans are working toward hosting a Gulf South Conference Tournament game for the second consecutive year. The GSC Quarterfinals are scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2026.
