NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (3-1, 2-0 Great Midwest), picked up a 4-1 win over visiting Malone University (0-7, 0-3 Great Midwest) at the Trojan Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

THE SERIES

After falling to Malone last season, the Trojans returned the favor, earning their fifth all-time victory over the Pioneers. Trevecca leads the series, 5-2.

THE MATCH

With a week off, the Trojans used their extended break from the pitch to train and develop their offensive attack. After his first shot on the game's first run went high, Michael Jones, collected his first goal of the season in the match's fifth minute. Jones' unassisted goal came at 4:14. After dominating possession for much of the first half, the Trojans took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break when Ben Singer scored his team-leading third goal of the season. Singer beat Malone keeper Logan Smith in the 40th minute off a pass from Jonas Grossman. Eight minutes into the second half, Grossman produced a goal of his own. The junior put away a penalty kick at 53:08 to give the Trojans a 3-0 advantage. The Trojans weren't finished yet. In the 71st minute, Armando Molina took a service from Jacob Sieber for the strike. Just 45 seconds later, the Pioneers found the back of the net for their lone goal of the match. Brennan Blaising connected a pass to Antonie Leheron who beat Trojan keeper, Tyler Delgado at 71:36. Delgado saw just four shots all evening as the Trojans picked up three conference points. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jonas Grossman picked up as many points as the Trojans did tonight, as the midfielder scored a penalty and assisted on Singer's strike.
• Ben Singer connected for his third goal of the season and now leads the team in strikes.
• The Trojans doubled up the Pioneers in total shots, 18-9.
• The Trojans remain undefeated in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
