NASHVILLE – Chris Douglas needed one goal to move a 14-year-old record out of his way. Hunter Walker needed one more clean sheet to claim a place no Trevecca goalkeeper had reached. By the end of Wednesday's 4-0 victory over Spring Hill College, the Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team watched at least four records fall and chipped in matching the most wins in program history and wrote another fascinating chapter in what is already a brilliant 2026 season.
More historical watershed markers were eclipsed when Douglas scored three times and Walker recorded his sixth shutout of the season on Wednesday. No. 20 Trevecca improved to 10-1-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the GSC. The victory tied the 10 wins earned by Stan Herod's final Trevecca team in 2003, a standard that had waited 23 years for company.
Danny Leavy's Trojans reached it in 13 matches. The 2003 team finished 10-9-2.
So, what comes next?
Two final regular season matches.
They present a path for the Trojans to finish as the Gulf South Conference regular season champions.
A team picked eighth in the GSC preseason coaches' poll heads to No. 9 Auburn University at Montgomery on Saturday with an opportunity to take control of the conference race.
Before the Trojans make that trip, there is already considerable history to account for On the Hill this year.
DOUGLAS AND WALKER MOVE THE RECORDS
Chris Douglas began Wednesday with 10 goals, sharing Trevecca's NCAA-era season record with Jonathan Baskin, who set the mark in 2012. At 42:57, Douglas put Trevecca ahead 1-0 and moved into first place by himself.
He was not finished. In the 67th minute, he followed Daniel Shiel's shot off the post and put away the rebound. In the 78th, he headed in Shiel's cross to complete his second hat trick of the season. Levi Jones scored between Douglas' first two goals, turning a tight opening half into a four-goal evening for the Trojans.
Douglas' 13 goals and 30 points both are NCAA-era single-season Trevecca records, with the points total passing Jeremiah Wright's 25 from 2013. His 13 goals rank third on Trevecca's all-era (including NAIA) season list, behind Mauricio Dos Santos' 28 in 2003 and Mark Foster's 20 in 2005. His 30 points rank fourth across the program's NAIA and NCAA years.
The career chase has become just as immediate. Douglas has 24 goals, one behind Wright's NCAA-era record of 25. Two more would put Douglas alone at the top. His 56 career points rank third in the NCAA era, behind Wright's 67 and Nicolas Reinhard's 61.
At the other end, Hunter Walker made three saves and completed another 90 minutes without conceding. The sophomore from Franklin, Tennessee, broke the NCAA-era season shutout record of five that he established a year ago. His 11 career clean sheets also moved him past Braydon Brown's 10.5 from 2011-14, giving Walker the career standard across both eras of Trevecca soccer.
Walker has done that in 30 career matches. He has played every minute of Trevecca's first 13 matches this fall, and his 10 goalkeeper victories are also a program single-season best, surpassing Joe Shrum's nine in 2003.
One older mark remains within reach. Shrum posted seven shutouts in 2002. Walker needs one more to match that all-era season record.

The assists record brings two more Trojans into the story. Haden Brown and Judah Jones each have seven, matching Wright's NCAA-era season standard. Their next assist would establish a new mark. Brown had two against Spring Hill, joining Shiel in helping create the night's offense.
The record book now has several places where a Trevecca player could change the order with one play.
AT THE TOP OF DIVISION II
The NCAA Division II national statistics, as of Oct. 15, 2026, put these and other achievements in a wider frame. Douglas leads NCAA Division II in both goals per game, 1.18, and points per game, 2.73. He is tied for second nationally with 13 goals and four game-winning goals, and he ranks third with 30 points.
Those are national leads earned in 11 appearances, not simply the product of playing more matches. All 13 of his goals have come without a penalty kick.
The margins around him are small. Palm Beach Atlantic's Kobi Thomas has 14 goals. Thomas and West Alabama's David Nunez share the national points lead with 32. Lincoln (Mo.) forward Jonathan Nemorden has five game-winning goals. Douglas is within one goal, two points and one game-winner of those respective totals.
Trevecca's passing numbers are nearly as salient. The Trojans rank third nationally in total assists with 38 and assists per game at 2.92. Charleston (W.Va.) and Southern New Hampshire share the total-assists lead with 39, just one ahead of Trevecca.
Judah Jones ranks fourth nationally with 0.70 assists per game. Jones and Brown are tied for 11th with seven assists apiece, sharing the GSC lead. Shiel has five assists, Douglas has four, and 16 Trojans have contributed at least one. Nine players have scored.
That scope is part of what makes the season difficult to reduce to a single name. Trevecca has the nation's leading scorer by rate, but it also has one of Division II's most productive groups of providers.

INDIVIDUAL NCAA D2 NATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Walker's place among the national leaders completes the picture. His six shutouts are tied for ninth in Division II, his 58 saves rank 15th and his .817 save percentage ranks 20th. Trevecca's team save percentage is .824, a separate figure that includes team saves.
The Trojans lead the GSC in assists, assists per game, points per game, goal differential, shots per game and winning percentage. They have scored in all 13 matches and outscored opponents 32-13. After halftime, the margin is 20-3.
THE ROAD TO MONTGOMERY
Saturday's match brings Trevecca's record-setting attack against the conference's stingiest defense, with considerably more than a statistical appraisal at on the line.
Trevecca visits AUM at 3:30 p.m. CT on Oct. 17. The Warhawks are 9-1-3 overall and unbeaten in conference play at 6-0-2. They lead the GSC with 20 points, followed by UAH with 18 and Trevecca with 17. All three, Trevecca, AUM, and UAH have locked up postseason bids in the Gulf South.
UAH has one conference match remaining. Trevecca and AUM each have two, including Saturday's meeting. So, if either AUM or TNU can get a clear W, they will have the leg up with one match remaining.
If the Trojans win at AUM and then beat West Alabama in Nashville, they finish with 23 points, at least a share of the regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in the GSC tournament. AUM could also reach 23 by losing to Trevecca and winning at Union, but the Trojans would hold the head-to-head tiebreaker for seeding. If AUM dropped points at Union after a Trevecca victory Saturday, two Trojan wins would deliver the outright title.
There is an earlier reward available, too. A win Saturday would guarantee Trevecca a top-three finish and a home conference quarterfinal. The Trojans have already secured a place in the eight-team tournament.
AUM has earned its position. The Warhawks are unbeaten in nine matches, have allowed nine goals all season and have conceded only three in eight GSC contests. They are 5-0-1 at home. Goalkeeper Jakob Buhrkuhl has seven shutouts, a 0.636 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage.
Benjamin Hoffmann leads AUM with five goals and 12 points. Alan De Paula and Jaden McKree each have three goals, while Malik Mawd has three assists. The Warhawks have scored 20 goals and posted seven team shutouts.
Trevecca also knows what it means to face AUM with a season on the line. The Warhawks eliminated the Trojans in the 2024 GSC quarterfinals and won last season's meeting 2-0 in Nashville. Saturday offers this Trevecca team a chance to write a different result against a familiar obstacle.

Standings and statistics through Oct. 14. Teams level on points remain subject to the GSC tiebreaking procedures.
The top four seeds host quarterfinals Oct. 31. The semifinals are Nov. 5, followed by the championship Nov. 7 at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex in Huntsville, Alabama. The tournament champion earns the conference's automatic NCAA tournament berth. A regular-season championship and that automatic bid are separate prizes.
Trevecca's regular-season finale is Friday, Oct. 23, against West Alabama at 7 p.m. CT at the Trevecca Soccer Pitch. The Tigers bring another challenge, with 38 goals and a 2.71 scoring average, both ahead of Trevecca's totals. Nunez has 13 goals and 32 points, making the final home match a meeting of two of Division II's most productive scorers.
HOW THE TROJANS REACHED THIS POINT
The first indication came before the rankings did. Trevecca won its first four matches, including a 1-0 victory at then-No. 19 Carson-Newman on Sept. 2. Haden Brown scored the winner and Hunter Walker made six saves. Road draws at Montevallo and then-No. 20 UAH followed, before a 6-2 home victory over Mississippi Christian kept the Trojans unbeaten through seven matches.
Lee handed Trevecca its only loss, 3-1 on Sept. 23. The response has been five consecutive victories, with 13 goals scored, four allowed and three shutouts.
The first of those wins required patience. At Christian Brothers on Sept. 26, Trevecca was outshot 17-3. Walker made eight saves, Zion Jones scored in the 85th minute and the Trojans left Memphis with a 1-0 victory.
Three days later, the setting and the demands changed. Trevecca needed four goals at Freed-Hardeman, and Douglas supplied three of them, including the winner at 88:53. Zion Jones scored the other in a 4-3 victory.
Shiel then scored all three goals in a 3-1 win over Delta State on Oct. 3 and the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Union on Oct. 7. Against Spring Hill, he provided two assists as Douglas took his turn scoring three.
A NATIONAL RANKING THAT FOLLOWED THE RESULTS
Trevecca entered the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 at No. 20 on Oct. 13, the program's first national coaches' poll ranking in its NCAA Division II era. The Trojans had received votes in each of the previous three polls.
The regional climb shows how steadily the case developed. Trevecca began September at No. 7 in the South Region and now stands at No. 3, one spot behind AUM. UAH is No. 23 nationally, putting three GSC teams in the current national Top 25.

The first NCAA National Power Index release on Oct. 12 placed Trevecca No. 21 nationally and No. 8 in Super Region 2. That is a separate measure from the coaches' poll and a separate regional grouping. It gives the Trojans another meaningful position to improve as they pursue an NCAA tournament opportunity.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE NUMBERS
For Chris Douglas, the season has carried a value beyond his place on a scoring list. His road to Trevecca began in Antigua and came through The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. An injury limited him to nine appearances in 2025. This fall has brought both a return to health and an opportunity to represent his home country in international play.
On Sept. 26, Douglas scored twice and added two assists for Antigua and Barbuda in a 5-0 victory over Anguilla in CONCACAF Nations League play. Three days later, he was back with the Trojans, scoring the hat trick at Freed-Hardeman and deciding the match with 1:07 remaining.
That stretch connects two parts of his life that a season statistics page cannot show. A player who came to Tennessee from Antigua has helped his country win and returned to help his college team chase a championship.
The Jones family brings another connection to the Hill. Judah, Levi and Zion are now teammates at Trevecca, following older brother Michael, who played for the Trojans from 2017-21. The younger brothers once served as ball boys while Michael played. This fall, their names are in the scoring summary.
Against Spring Hill, Zion assisted Levi's goal. Judah's seven assists have him alongside Brown at the top of the conference and alongside Wright in Trevecca's NCAA-era record book.
The brothers' journey from Sierra Leone to the family of Mike and Hayley Jones has already been told in fuller detail. This season adds something worth sitting in: three brothers sharing the same college team, contributing in different ways, with a chance to help that team do something it has never done before.
Zion Jones has four goals and two assists, including the winner at Christian Brothers and two goals against Mississippi College. Levi has two goals and an assist in eight Trevecca appearances. Judah has become one of the nation's leading providers. Their family story is part of Trevecca's story, and their play has made them central to its present narrative.
Daniel Shiel deserves his own place in that account. His seven goals and five assists give him 19 points, with four goals and three assists during the current five-match winning streak. He ranks 18th nationally in shot accuracy and 23rd in points per game. His career totals have reached 14 goals, eight assists and 36 points.
Haden Brown has started all 13 matches as a freshman and added seven assists to his winning goal at Carson-Newman. His consistency, along with the work of players whose contributions do not always end in a goal or assist, has allowed Trevecca's attack and defense to support each other.
Hunter Walker has now made 137 career saves and earned 16 victories. His six shutouts this fall account for nearly half the schedule, but the clean sheets belong to a defensive effort that has allowed only three second-half goals in 13 matches. Those minutes have given Trevecca room to turn draws into wins and narrow leads into finished results.
RECOGNITION ALONG THE WAY
Douglas has earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association weekly honors three times this season, on Sept. 15, Sept. 22 and Oct. 6. Brown and Walker earned GSC Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week recognition, respectively, on Sept. 8. Zion Jones was named the conference's Freshman of the Week on Sept. 22.
Those honors mark individual weeks in a season Leavy has guided into unfamiliar territory. In his 18th year leading the program, he has a team that has exceeded its preseason conference projection, reached the national coaches' poll and secured another GSC postseason appearance. The next task is to turn that position into the strongest possible finish and extend the season more than any Purple and White squad has in program history.

Some of those marks could change Saturday. Others may require the final home match or the postseason. Douglas and Walker already hold records they can continue to extend, while Brown and Judah Jones are one pass from moving beyond a shared standard.
For the team, the arithmetic is straightforward. Two wins would give Trevecca 12, two more than any Trojan team has earned in a season, and at least a share of the GSC regular-season championship.
The work required is less simple. AUM has not lost a conference match. West Alabama can score with almost anyone. The postseason will ask for another response after that.
Still, this is the opportunity Trevecca has earned. The names in the record book have begun to change. The Trojans head to Montgomery with a chance to change the name at the top of the standings, too.
