Trevecca Men’s Soccer | No. 7 Trojans Play for First Gulf South Tournament Title

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – No. 7 Trevecca Nazarene University plays for its first Gulf South Conference tournament title at noon CT Saturday when the top-seeded Trojans face No. 6 seed West Alabama at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex. The winner earns the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Division II tournament.

Trevecca (14-1-2) brings nine straight wins and Division II's leading scorer to the final. West Alabama (8-6-4) brings the nation's most accurate attack and the No. 2 scorer on the Division II goals list. Douglas has 19 goals. Tigers David Nunez has 18.

Two weeks ago in Nashville, Douglas supplied the winner against the Tigers to clinch a share of Trevecca's first conference title. The rematch offers a different prize: a tournament championship and a guaranteed place in the national field.

The Trojans also won twice in the same postseason for the first time.

West Alabama beat third-seeded UAH 4-3 in the quarterfinals and shut out second-seeded AUM 2-0 in the semifinals. Nunez set up Florian Laot's opener against AUM at 13:54. Luke Jovanovich crossed for Aidan Riley at 84:36, and Dan Erez made three saves. The Tigers return to the final for the first time since winning it in 2017.
