HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 Minnesota St.-Moorhead:
The game's only run for the first four and a half innings came when MaKray Odom grounded in Alyssa Triner for a 1-0 Trevecca lead. Neither team's offense would score for the next two innings, but the Dragons pounded out five runs in the bottom of the fifth. A two-run single by McCance and a two-run double by Dummer fueled Minnesota St.-Moorhead's rally. Facing a 5-1 deficit the Trojans would not go away. In the top of the sixth, the Trojans plated seven runs (all with one out) to capture an 8-5 advantage. Sidney Brake and Lenna Robinson connected for RBI singles while Matti Byrd hit a two-run scoring double. The inning was capped when Megan Groves slammed a three-run home run.
GAME 2 Edinboro:
The Fighting Scots of Edinboro put early pressure on the Trojans with a run in the top of the first, however, the Trojans' offense exploded for five runs in the home half of the inning. Sidney Brake hit her first collegiate home run, a two-run blast. Kelsey Seitz, Hannah Caffey, and Carly Sperlich all received RBI base hits to fund the five spot. Edinboro plated runs in consecutive innings to pull within 5-3 going to the bottom of the third. The Fighting Scots offense was halted from there, however as the Trojans answered in the third. Lenna Robinson drove in Sydney McCormick with a single to the shortstop. In the fourth inning, the Trojans successfully attempted a double steal which allowed Brake to score from third and Sperlich move into scoring position at second.
