Trevecca Men's Golf | Ninth @ Doc Scruggs; Turner 10th

FINDLAY, OH – Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf finished ninth of 16 teams at the 2019 Doc Spragg Invitational at the Findlay Country Club. Trevecca shot a team score of 300-298-300=898 while Blain Turner recorded a team-best 74-73-71=218 placing him 10th in the field of 90.

The Spragg Invite is hosted by the University of Findlay and played to a par of 72 over 6747 yards. The 54-hole event consisted of 36 holes on Monday and another 18 on Tuesday.

 

There were 16 teams and 90 golfers competing.

TREVECCA PLAYER NOTES

Conner Conkel led the field with a one-under 2.92 average score on the par three holes and finished ninth with 36 pars.

 

Blain Turner finished just behind Conkel and tied for second with an even-par average on the par three holes. Turner tied for 13th with a three-under 4.75 average on the par five holes. The junior had 10 birdies, tied for seventh in the field. Turner finished with 35 pars, tied for 15th in the field. 

 

Ryan Rozic tied for 13th with a three-over par 4.10 average on the par four holes and tied with Blain Turner and Solomon Zarling for 15th with 35 pars.

 

THE FIELD: TEAMS

Wayne State rallied for a win over the host, University of Findlay, with a 281-297-294=872. Wayne State led after the first round, but dropped to second behind Findlay after Monday's second round. Fellow Great Midwest member Findlay, finished second with a 288-286-299=873.

 

Other G-MAC members in the field were – Tiffin (5th / 294-292-304=890, Hillsdale College (10th / 306-296-297=899), and Malone College (17th / 308-301-309=918).

 

THE FIELD: INDIVIDUALS

Brendan Seys of Wayne State took the Medalist honors with a 69-69-71=209.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

In October the team visits Fox Run Golf Club in St. Louis for the Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Missouri St. Louis on the 7th and 8th. A trip to Carrolton (Ga.) Country Club finishes the fall schedule with the West Georgia hosted Matt Dyas Invitational.
