LOUISVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (8-6) started day two at the Bellarmine Classic with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21) victory vs. Georgia College (5-4) at Knights Hall on the Bellarmine Campus.

Truman State University (5-6) knocked off the Trojans 3-0 (24-26, 12-25, 19-25) in the Trojans final of four matches at the Bellarmine Classic.

THE SERIES

Trevecca wins the first-ever meeting with Georgia College and loses in the first-ever meeting with Truman State.

THE MATCHES  

MATCH ONE: Trevecca 3, Georgia College 1

Trevecca fell behind 6-2 in the early morning start and trailed 18-13 more than half way through the opening set, the Trojans used a 6-2 run to tie the match at 21-21, after the Bobcats pulled ahead 21-20, Trevecca pushed through to the win outscoring GC 5-1 gaining a 25-22 win … TNU opened the second set up 8-2, holding the lead the entire set building as much as an eight-point (16-8) lead and winning 25-18 … GC surged to a 5-2 edge early in set three, Trevecca used a 12-7 run to pull ahead 14-11 with a kill from six different Trojans in the run … the Bobcats extended the match with a 14-6 run to close the set, winning 25-20 … the Bobcats held the lead throughout the early and mid-part of set four, leading 18-13 just over halfway, the Trojans played determined to avoid a fifth set, closing the fourth on a 12-3 run for a 25-21 set and match win.

TOP PLAYER

Austin Baldwin collected a double-double with 18 kills, 12 digs, an .424 (18 K, 4 E, 33 TA) attack percentage, and five blocks … three more Trojans – Madison Martin (11 K/10 D), Choloee McDaniel (44 A / 10 D), and Ellie Buffler (13 K / 12 Dig) - added a double-double. McDaniel just missed a triple-double with nine kills … Claire Hindman had a team-high 21 digs and added five assists and a service ace.

THE TEAM

Five Trojans hit double figures in digs and four contributed nine or more kills … Trevecca hit .316 (17 K, 5 E, 38 TA) in the second, .324 (17 K, 5 E, 38 TA) in the third … for the match, Trevecca hit .199 (59 K, 27 E, 161 TA).

MATCH TWO: Trevecca 0, Truman State 3

Trevecca fell behind 10-1, but rallied to take a 21-20 lead on the wings of a 20-10 run in the first set, Trevecca pushed Truman State to extra points before falling 26-24 … an 11-1 start for Truman State in the second resulted in a 25-12 decision for TSU … Trevecca owned the early portion of the third set, building a 11-6 lead before Truman State built a 20-12 lead with a 14-1 run and the Trojans drew no closer than five the rest of the way, losing 25-19.

TOP PLAYER

No Trojan reached double-figures in kills, but Austyn Baldwin led the team with nine and a .273 hitting percentage … Claire Hindman added another 21 digs with two service aces.

THE TEAM

Trevecca hit .062 (28 K, 20 E, 129 TA) versus Truman State who hit .216 (41 K, 14 E, 125 TA).
