OWENSBORO, KY. – Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team tied for second and Ryan Rozic finished second in the field at the season-opening 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Invitational at The Pearl Club.

Rozic's 14 par or better rounds ranks him fifth best in the history of the program as he is just starting his second season.

Ryan Rozic and Solomon Zarling led the field with 11 birdies. Conner Conkel carded six. Conkel finished third in the field with 24 pars.

Conner Conkel picked up his seventh par or better round today and moved up to ninth on the all-time list. Zarling finished with the sixth best average (four-under, 4.50) on the par five holes. Conkel turned in the 11th best average (two-over, 4.10) average on the par four holes.

Conner Conkel and Solomon Zarling each tied for the best par three average (one-under, 2.88) in the field.

Ryan Rozic tied for the low par four average (four-under, 3.80) in the field and finished 10th with a 4.53 average (three-under) on the par five holes.

Blain Turner led the field after the first round and completed the course on Tuesday in the lead, but signed an incorrect scorecard and was disqualified. His opening round 66 tied former Trojan Joey Bradley for the third best round in program history. Bradley recorded two rounds of 66 in his career. Those rounds stood as the program best for from the 2011-2012 season until Larken Whittemore recorded a 64 during the 2017-2018 season. Turner's career best is a 65 recorded last season at Trevecca's Music City Invitational. Â

Turner now has 28 career par or better rounds and is tied with Joey Bradley for the best in program history. Â

Rozic is now 13th on the career birdies list with 94.

THE FIELD: TEAMS
After an even-par 288 on Monday, the Trojans turned in a three-under par 285 on Tuesday, finishing in second. The University of Findlay's five-under 283 was the best in the field, but they topped that effort with a 276 on Tuesday and a two-round total of 559.

The 36-hole total of 573 is the third best recorded in Trevecca men's golf history. The 285 on Tuesday is the 11th lowest team single round in program history while the 288 Monday was the 15th best round. Â

THE FIELD: INDIVIDUALS
The only golfer to finish ahead of Ryan Rozic is the tournament Medalist, Robert Holden of Ohio Dominican University with a 72-66=138.

WHAT'S NEXT
The team heads further North to Findlay, Ohio on September 23-24 for the University of Findlay Invitational at the Findlay Country Club. In October the team visits Fox Run Golf Club in St. Louis for the Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Missouri St. Louis on the 7th and 8th. A trip to Carrolton (Ga.) Country Club finishes the fall schedule with the West Georgia hosted Matt Dyas Invitational. Â
