TREVECCA SOFTBALL | TROJANS SPLIT FINAL DAY AT PFX THE SPRING GAMES

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (11-6) split its two games on the final day of the PFX The Spring Games Tournament, losing to Concordia University-St. Paul, 3-1, before beating Stonehill College, 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE: Trevecca got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning when Megan Groves singled to score MaKray Odom, who had singled and stole second...The Bears tied the game in the top of the fourth with a run on two hits and took a 3-1 lead an inning later with a pair of runs on two hits and a Trevecca error...Trevecca did get two runners on and had the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but a flyout ended the game.

 
GAME TWO: Trevecca never trailed in getting back on the winning track, scoring a run in the top of the first when Odom singled, stole second and third and coming home on a throwing error...The Trojans broke the game open in the third with three more runs to go up, 4-0. Trevecca used three hits and another Stonehill error to score the runs, with Lenna Robinson (bases-loaded walk), Groves (sacrifice fly) and Tana Whited (fielder's choice) all picking up RBI...The Skyhawks did get a run back in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Julia Hartman to close the gap to 4-1...However, the Trojans responded with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh when Mary Collins and Whited launched two-out, back-to-back solo homers to widen the lead to 6-1...Stonehill did load the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Morgan Powell got a pair of infield pop-ups to close out the win.
 

PLAYER STATS REPORT

GAME ONE: Raygn Hall (3-1) went the distance in the circle for the Trojans and took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks...Odom finished the game 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored...Groves was 2-for-4 with an RBI...Bailey Alexander and Kelsey Seitz had the other hits for Trevecca, which outhit Concordia-St. Paul, 7-6.

 

GAME TWO:  Savannah Carr (5-2) went five innings in the circle to earn the victory, giving up no runs on just one hit with two walks and a strikeout...Powell worked the last two innings, allowing one run on five hits with a walk and a strikeout...Odom was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four stolen bases to lead Trevecca's offense...Collins was 2-for-2 with her solo homer...Whited finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI...Matti Byrd and Kaylor Chaffin also had a hit apiece and scored a run for the Trojans.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca is now off until March 16, when the Trojans host Kentucky Wesleyan in their Great Midwest Conference opener. The doubleheader is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch at the Trevecca Softball Complex.
