Trevecca Men's Golf | Ryan Rozic Leads MW Regional @ Fox Run; Trojans Ninth

EUREKA, Mo. - Trevecca Nazarene University men's golfer Ryan Rozic paced the Trojans and the MW Regional field through the opening two rounds of play. On Monday morning, Rozic blazed the course in five-under 67 fashion to lead after the first round. In the afternoon round, the senior added a 73 for a 140 two-round total and a share of the lead.

As a team, the Trojans finished one shot off the lead at five-over-par (293) through the first 18 holes, but fell back to ninth at the end of the afternoon round with a 306.

Following a 30-minute fog delay at the start of play Monday, the teams were able to complete 36 holes just as darkness fell on the course. The 54-hole event concludes with the final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.

Trevecca is scheduled to tee off at 8:00 AM from hole #1 with each Trojan playing alongside a member of the Missouri S & T and the University of Indianapolis squad.

TREVECCA PLAYER NOTES

Rozic's opening round 67 is the sixth lowest round in Trojan history and one better than his personal career low - a 68 at the 2019 Great Midwest Championships.

It is the 15th par or better round for Rozic, moving him into a tie with Payton Williams for fourth most in program history.

Combined with his second round 73, Rozic turned in the ninth-best 36-hole total in program history. The two-round total of 140 is one short of his career-best - a 139 which he recorded twice already in his Trevecca career.

Rozic collected six birdies in the opening round, tying him for most in the field. His 11 birdies through two rounds leads the field.

The first round 67 by Rozic was generated with the second lowest par three average (two under / 2.50), sixth best par four average (one under / 3.91), and seventh best par five average (one under par / 4.75). His second round total was fueled by the second lowest average on the par three holes (two under / 2.75), the eighth lowest total on the par four holes (one under / 3.95), and 13th best par five average (one under / 4.88).

Blain Turner, who was tied for fourth overall with a one-under 71 after the morning round, is ninth heading into Tuesday's final round with a 71-75=146.

Turner's opening round 71 added to his Trevecca career record for par or better rounds with his 30th. His 25 pars placed him sixth in the field through two rounds. Turner had the fifth best par five average (two under / 4.75) and 13th best average on the par four holes (two over / 4.10).

Solomon Zarling is sixth in the field with seven personal birdies.

Ryan Rozic pushed his career birdie total to 111 following Monday's play, placing him tied with David Saldana for ninth on the all-time Trevecca list. Blain Turner reached 181 career birdies, strengthening his third place status on the career list behind Joey Bradley (251) and career leader Larken Whittemore (260).

THE FIELD: TEAMS
