TIFFIN, OH – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (2-2-1, 1-2-0 G-MAC) fell in double overtime, 3-2 to new Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe Tiffin University (4-2-0, 2-1-0 G-MAC) at Paradiso Soccer Field on Wednesday.

SERIES HISTORY

The two teams have never met before in the NCAA era. Tiffin University joined the G-MAC after completing membership since 2008 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

 

GAME DETAILS

The Trojans responded after being shutout in the previous game with two first half goals … nearly half-way through the first half, Armando Molina (FR/Antioch, TN) received a pass from Nicolas Reinhard (SR/Heiligkreuzsteinach, Germany) at 23:37 to put the Trojans on top 1-0 … the goal was Molina's fourth of the season, the assist Reinhard's second of the year … less than a minute later the Trojans struck again … Michael Jones (SO/Freetown, Sierra Leone) beat the Dragons keeper, Cary Wilson, at 24:26 to bolster the Trojans to a 2-0 lead … Jones' goal was his first of the season and was assisted by Molina (2) … Tiffin cut their deficit in half at 30:49 when Abdoul Magid Sy scored … in the second half the Dragons managed to tie the game at 2-2 when Abdoul Magid Sy scored his second goal of the afternoon at 72:39 … never team scored in the first overtime … Tiffin's Ramiesh McKnight scored with seven seconds remaining in double overtime to give the Dragons the 3-2 victory … Trojan goalkeeper, Tyler Delgado (JR/Spring Hill, TN) made four saves to keep the Trojans in the match.

  

MAN OF THE MATCH

Armando Molina scored the Trojans first goal at 23:37, his fourth goal of the season … Molina also got his second assist of the season when he supported Michael Jones' first goal of the year at 24:26.  

 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Trojans return home to host the University of Findlay (1-3, 1-0 G-MAC) on Saturday, September 15th at 3:30 PM.

 

Trevecca and Findlay battled twice last season, both times the Oilers getting the better of the Trojans.
