Trevecca Men's Soccer | Trojans Beat Pioneers of Malone; Get Week Off

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (2-3-1, 1-1-1 G-MAC) defeated Malone University (1-3-1, 0-2-1 G-MAC) 3-0 in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match at the Trojan Soccer Complex.

 

Trevecca is 1-0 all-time against the Pioneers who are in their first year as a member of the G-MAC. Trevecca will visit the Pioneers in Canton, Ohio on October 8th at 3 PM.

 

Trevecca has four points in G-MAC play and are three points back of first-place Cedarville.

 

Trevecca has a week off before hosting Alderson Broaddus University on September 22 at 7:30 PM. It is the third of five straight home matches to end the month of September. The Trojans are 1-3 all-time versus the Battlers. ABU owns the last two meetings in the series. Each match in the series has been decided by one score.

 

Baylor McKay took a cross from Luis Vital and buried it in the back of the net past Pioneer keeper Coty Hilty in the 29th (28:03) minute for what would eventually be the winning goal.

 

Just over a minute later TNU added to its lead with a goal off the foot of Jeremiah Wright in the 30th minute (29:19) with Frank Down assisting.

 

Jeremiah Wright made it a three-point night with an assist on a Danny Martinez goal in the 88th minute (87:20). The cross from setup Martinez to cap the night for the Trojans.

 

Tyler Delgado stood up against the Pioneers and had a save in goal to get the win.

 

Trevecca outshot Malone 25-6 .
