Trevecca Men's Soccer | Trojans lose in 2OT in G-MAC Quarters @ Ohio Valley

VIENNA, W.Va. – The Trevecca men's soccer team 7-10, 5-7 G-MAC) lost 2-1 in two overtimes in the quarterfinal round of the 2015 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. The Trojans lost on the road at Ohio Valley University (9-7-1, 7-5-1 G-MAC) at the OVU Soccer Field.

 

The loss ends the season for the Trojans and the career for seniors Daniel Mudd (SR/Shelbyville, TN), Matthew Dyer (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN), and Samuel Mummert (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN).

 

The Trojans scored first when Jeremiah Wright (JR/Columbia, TN) took a feed from Baylor McKay (JR/Brentwood, TN) and scored in the 11th minute (11:32). It is the fifth goal of the year for Wright and he now has 12 points. McKay ends the season with two goals and two assists and six points.

 

Wright concludes his junior year with 20 career goals, 10 assists, and 50 points.

 

The advantage held up until the 36th minutes (36-30) when Mina Ayaid scored the first of two goals.

 

The teams played even through regulation and the first overtime. In fact, the match was just a 1:39 from going to a shootout when Ayaid scored his second goal on an assist from Christian Galindo.

 

Coach Danny Leavy, the fourth Trevecca coach in program history, completes his seventh season and has the most wins in program history. Leavy has a career record of 49-67-5 overall and is 20-31-1 in conference play.

 

Jon Curtis had four wins in his only season in 1992. When the program restarted in 2000, Stan Herod produced 22 wins in his four seasons. Jeff Carr was next and had 30 wins in five years.

 

Since the Trojans joined the G-MAC Leavy and the Trojans are 14-16-1 in G-MAC play.

 

This completes the 17th season for Trevecca men's soccer and the program has an all-time overall record of 105-173-20. In conference play the Trojans are 41-68-5.

 

Jeremiah Wright and Ryan Hogan (JR/Ballincollig, Ireland) each had five goals this season to lead the team. Frank Down (SO/Ballincollg, Ireland), Jordan Gilmore (JR/Portadown, Northern Ireland), Baylor McKay, Nicolas Rienhard, Jeremiah Wright, and Jake Singer (SO/Donelson, TN) each had a team-high two assists. Wright led the team with 12 points while Ryan Hogan (11) and Jake Singer (10) also reached double figures in points.

 

Stephen Sherer (SO/Medina, TN) had a 3-2 record in goal with three shutouts. Daniel Mudd finished 4-6 with a shutout.
