Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

VIENNA, W.Va. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (24-8, 10-2 G-MAC) defeated Ohio Valley University (12-20, 3-7 G-MAC) 3-1 and 5-0 to sweep a G-MAC double header at Jackson Park Field.

Game One

Ohio Valley scored the games first run in the first, but Trevecca starter Haley Fagan slammed the door by retiring the next 18 batters. Fagan retired the last two batters of the first and then every batter from the second through the sixth inning and then first batter in the seventh.

Trouble did brew again in the seventh as the Fighting Scots loaded the bases with just one away. After striking out the leadoff batter, Fagan gave up back-to-back singles before Morgan Wilson reached on an error to load the bases. Fagan regrouped and induced a double play when Chanel Bouchard got just a piece of a Fagan pitch and TNU catcher Jordan Griner was able to scoop the ball and tag home for the first then beat Bouchard to first with her throw for the game-ending double play.

Trevecca scored two of its three runs in the top of the sixth. Alex Richardson walked with one away and scored on Heather Shuler's triple in the next at bat. Shelby Andrews scored Shuler from third with a ground out to short.

The games final run came in the Trojan seventh Kayla Richards led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a Ansley Brantley sacrifice. Kelsey Kemp, who was 3-for-4 at the plate, singled to center and scoring Richards.

Trevecca managed just six hits, three of those coming from Kemp. The extra base hit was Shuler's triple. Ohio Valley had four hits and two errors while the Trojans committed one miscue.

Shuler was 1-for-3 with a run scored, a triple, and an RBI.  Kemp, aside from her three hits, had an RBI and a stolen base.

Fagan (9-5) pitched a complete game an allowed four hits, a run, no walks, and struck out five. Kristine Brown (7-9) took the loss pitching the entire game. Brown allowed six hits, three runs, a walk, and had three strikeouts.
