NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team continued Gulf South Conference play Friday afternoon, splitting a home doubleheader against Mississippi College at the Trevecca Softball Complex.
The Trojans (8-10, 4-10 GSC) earned a strong win in the opener before falling in a competitive nightcap to Mississippi College (17-11-1, 9-5 GSC).
Trevecca 8, Mississippi College 3 (Game 1)
Trevecca set the tone early and never looked back, using a big first inning and dominant pitching to secure the conference win.
Bailey Goad was outstanding in the circle, tossing a perfect game through the first four innings and keeping Mississippi College off balance throughout her outing. She finished with five innings of work to earn the victory.
The Trojans erupted for four runs in the first inning. After
Shay Hollingsworth reached base and
Addy Grace Summers doubled,
Annabelle Ellis delivered the biggest swing of the inning with a three-run home run to left field, giving Trevecca a 4-0 lead.
Trevecca added to its lead in the fifth inning. Hollingsworth drove in a run with a double, and Grace followed with another RBI double to extend the advantage. Later in the inning, Goad helped her own cause with an RBI single to push the lead to 7-2.
The Trojans added one more run in the sixth, as aggressive baserunning by
Brookelyn Miles led to a run crossing the plate, capping the scoring at 8-3.
Parker Herrin closed the game with two innings of relief to secure the win.

Mississippi College 5, Trevecca 3 (Game 2)
Trevecca continued to battle offensively in the second game, collecting seven hits and staying within reach throughout the contest.
The Trojans broke through in the fourth inning when
Annalise Mecklenburg launched a solo home run to get Trevecca on the board.
Trevecca added two more runs across the middle innings, including an RBI from
Sarah Nicholson, as the Trojans kept pressure on Mississippi College's defense.
Mecklenburg and
Annabelle Ellis each recorded two hits to lead the Trojans at the plate, while
Brianna Asmondy,
Sarah Kinderdine, and Nicholson added key contributions.
In the circle,
Parker Herrin delivered a solid outing, working through the lineup and keeping Trevecca within striking distance deep into the game.
