Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

NASHVILE, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene University (10-2) swept a non-conference baseball doubleheader over Olivet Nazarene University (4-5) Saturday afternoon at Jackson Field. It was the ninth consecutive win for the Trojans.

GAME ONE

Bryan Smith (2-1) had a good day on the mound for TNU as he tossed eight innings, allowed just two hits, no runs and struck out eight. Just one Tiger runner reached scoring position in the game. That came in the top of the first as Josh Altmann singled pushing Aaron King to second base.

Hunter Newman gave Trevecca all the run support it needed in the bottom of the first. After Tyler Tichenor drew a walk, Newman smacked a shot over the left field wall to give TNU a 2-0 lead. It was Newman's first home run of the season.

The Trojans added a run in the seventh as Ethan Hurt hit a two-out single to right center scoring Ryan Arington who had singled two batters before.

Michael Donaldson picked up the save as he tossed the final inning and allowed just a hit.

Newman and Arington each collected multiple hits to lead the Trojans.

GAME TWO

Cameron Boyett broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth with the game-winning hit to center field scoring Newman.

Leading up to the sixth frame, both teams had leads.

Trevecca got on the board in the first as Tichenor scored on the throw from Tigers catcher Codey Houts to second on a stolen base attempt.

Olivet responded in the top of the third as Jordan Wanner singled to left field scoring Seth Gorman who had led off the inning with a double.

The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the next frame as Bryan Klendworth hit an RBI double to right center.

TNU then tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as Arington singled through the left side scoring Boyett.

The score would remain the same until Boyett's single in the sixth lifted Trevecca to a 3-2 lead.

John Bolton closed the game in the seventh picking up his first career save. With bases loaded and just one out, Bolton struck out one batter and then induced a groundout to second to end the game.

Alex Shoulders (2-1) picked up the win for TNU tossing six innings, allowing seven hits, two runs (one earned) and striking out five.

Boyett and Arington tallied two hits a piece to lead the Trevecca offense.

The Trojans return to action March 4 at 6 p.m. when they host Carson-Newman University (11-8) at Jackson Field.
