Box Score

NASHVILLE – Four different players scored goals Thursday night as Trevecca Nazarene Univeristy (6-5-1) shutout Ohio Valley University (0-11, 0-4 G-MAC) 4-0 in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's soccer match at the TNU Soccer Complex.

It was the most goals scored this season by the Trojans.

TNU shot early and often in the first half holding a 17-3 advantage in shots over OVU.

Matthew Esquivel got the Trojans on the board first in the 20th minute as a pass from Jeremiah Wright was shot from center box, eight yards to the left corner.

Trevecca went up 2-0 as Wright scored his fifth goal of the season in the 25th minute. The freshman took a Juan Egas pass around the right side slipping by Fighting Scots goalie D'Arcy Turner for the goal.

Ohio Valley had two good attempts to get on the scoreboard in the first half. In the 2nd minute, Jackie Flynn fired from just within the box but Trevecca's Braydon Brown saved the attempt.

Dalton Turner added the other shot on-goal, this one a header, in the 29th minute.

In the second half, Rob Ward extended TNU's lead to 3-0 in the 76th minute with a beautiful 30-yard shot to the left corner of the net.

Egas would get the final goal of the match in the 77th minute after he took an Esquivel pass from just inside center field and fired from the left box.

The Fighting Scots would have on-goal attempts from Nicholas Nunes and Dylan Hager but neither would find the back of the net.

Brown earned his second shutout of the season while collecting four saves.

Trevecca out-shot Ohio Valley 24-7 and held a 9-2 lead in corner kicks.

TNU returns to action Oct. 12 as it hosts Salem International University (5-4, 1-0 G-MAC) for a 7 p.m. match.
