WEST POINT, Miss. - Maddox Burton finished fourth with a four-under-par 212 and Wilson Borders fired a bogey-free three-under-par 69 Tuesday to lead the Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team in the final round of the Samuel T. Dunning Invitational at Mossy Oak Golf Club.
Burton, who opened the tournament with rounds of 71 and 69 Monday, completed the 54-hole event with an even-par 72. His 212 (71-69-72) placed him fourth in the 60-player field.
Borders supplied the Trojans' low round Tuesday. The reigning Gulf South Conference Men's Golfer of the Week carded three birdies without a bogey on the way to his three-under-par 69. He finished tied for 20th with a three-over-par 219 (76-74-69).
Trevecca also saved its best team round for Tuesday, closing with a 291 after rounds of 297 and 296 Monday. The Trojans finished ninth among 11 teams with an 884 total.

MADDOX BURTON
Burton put together three consecutive par-or-better rounds, opening with a one-under-par 71 and following with a three-under-par 69 and an even-par 72.
His four-under-par 212 is his best 54-hole score of the 2026-27 season.
Burton's opening 36-hole total was a four-under-par 140.
He continued his strong play on the par-5 holes Tuesday. Burton birdied the par-5 fifth before adding an eagle three on the par-5 17th.
For the tournament, Burton led the 60-player field in par-5 scoring, playing those holes seven under par with a 4.42 scoring average.
He also tied for seventh in par-4 scoring, playing those holes three under par with a 3.90 average.
Burton finished tied for third in the field with 13 birdies. He had five birdies in each of Monday's rounds and three more Tuesday to go with his eagle.
The three par-or-better rounds give Burton four par-or-better rounds this season and 26 during his Trevecca career.
Burton now has 23 birdies this season and 237 during his Trevecca career.
His four-under-par 212 also gives Burton a par-or-better 54-hole tournament total.
WILSON BORDERS
Borders finished the tournament with his best round of the week, firing a bogey-free three-under-par 69.
He went out in three-under-par 33 and came home in even-par 36.
Borders birdied the par-3 fourth, par-4 sixth and par-5 seventh before making 11 consecutive pars to complete the round.
The 69 is Borders' best round of the 2026-27 season, bettering the two-under-par 70 he carded in the opening round of last week's Griffin Invitational.
Borders finished tied for 20th with a three-over-par 219, posting rounds of 76, 74 and 69.
He made 10 birdies during the Dunning Invitational, giving him 19 birdies this season and 104 during his Trevecca career.
The final-round 69 was Borders' lone par-or-better round of the tournament and gives him three this season and seven during his Trevecca career.
The performance came one week after Borders earned Gulf South Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honors. He finished fifth at the Griffin Invitational with a one-under-par 215 (70-73-72), recording nine birdies and 37 pars while helping the Trojans finish third.
LAIRD WILLIAMS
Williams finished tied for 25th with a five-over-par 221, posting rounds of 75, 72 and 74.
His even-par 72 in Monday's second round was his par-or-better round of the tournament.
Williams made seven birdies during the tournament, giving him 18 this season and 38 during his Trevecca career.
The second-round 72 gives Williams two par-or-better rounds this season and two during his Trevecca career.
CONNER WILLIAMS
Williams closed with a six-over-par 78 after rounds of 75 and 81 Monday.
He finished tied for 53rd with an 18-over-par 234.
Williams made three birdies during the tournament. None of his three rounds were par-or-better.
JIRI KINNUNEN
Kinnunen produced his best round of the tournament Tuesday, improving six strokes from his second-round score with a four-over-par 76.
He made four birdies during the final round after going without a birdie during Monday's opening 36 holes.
Kinnunen finished 55th with a 20-over-par 236.
His four birdies at the Dunning give him eight this season and eight during his Trevecca career.
Kinnunen has yet to record a par-or-better round through his first six rounds with the Trojans.
TROJAN TEAM NOTES
Trevecca improved its team score in each round, posting 297-296-291 for an 884 total.
The final-round 291 was six strokes better than the opening round and five strokes better than Monday afternoon.
The Trojans finished the tournament with 37 birdies, producing 14 in the opening round, 12 in Round Two and 11 Tuesday.
Burton led Trevecca with 13 birdies, followed by Borders with 10, Laird Williams with seven, Kinnunen with four and Conner Williams with three.
Trevecca finished sixth in the field in par-4 scoring with a 4.11 average and sixth in par-5 scoring with a 5.08 average.
Burton led the entire field in par-5 scoring at seven under par and tied for seventh in par-4 scoring at three under par.
Three Trojans produced at least one par-or-better round during the tournament. Burton did it in all three rounds with scores of 71, 69 and 72, Borders added Tuesday's 69 and Laird Williams recorded an even-par 72 Monday.
