TOCCOA, Ga. - Freshman Conner Williams fired a career-low two-under-par 70 and finished the opening 36 holes under par Monday, leading the Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team through Day One of the Currahee Collegiate at Currahee Golf Club.
The Trojans opened with a one-under-par 287 and followed with a 293 for a four-over-par 580, Trevecca's best 36-hole team total of the 2026-27 season. Trevecca finished the day tied for seventh with Coker in the 13-team field.
The 54-hole event, hosted by Anderson University and Erskine College, features 72 golfers on the par-72, 7,382-yard McCoy Wright Tees. The final 18 holes are scheduled for Tuesday morning.
Conner leads the Trojans in a tie for 17th at one-under-par 143 after rounds of 70 and 73.
His opening 70 lowered his previous collegiate low by five strokes and gave him his first collegiate par-or-better round. Conner made four birdies in the morning, turning in three-under-par 33, then added three more in Round Two to finish Monday with seven.
The 143 also establishes a new collegiate career-best 36-hole total for Conner.
Laird Williams gave Trevecca its most consistent performance of the day, carding consecutive even-par 72s for a 144 and a tie for 22nd.
Laird's 144 is a new Trevecca career-best 36-hole total, improving his previous best by one stroke. He made four birdies in the opening round and five in the afternoon for a team-high nine birdies and was the only Trojan to post two par-or-better rounds Monday.
Paul Swanepoel opened his 2026-27 season with rounds of 72-73 and is tied for 28th at one-over-par 145.
His 145 establishes a new Trevecca career-best 36-hole total, three strokes better than his previous mark of 148. Swanepoel made eight birdies Monday, including five in the opening round.
Maddox Burton is tied for 40th at four-over-par 148 following rounds of 73 and 75. Burton made six birdies Monday and remains Trevecca's season leader with 29 birdies.
Wilson Borders is 64th at 156 after rounds of 81 and 75, cutting six strokes from his opening-round score in the afternoon.

Trevecca's 580 lowers its previous season-best 36-hole total of 583 from the Griffin Invitational.
The opening-round 287 is the Trojans' second-lowest 18-hole team score of the season, behind the three-under-par 285 at the Griffin Invitational, and gives Trevecca its second under-par team round of the year.
The program records remain 271 for 18 holes, 550 for 36 holes and 836 for 54 holes, all established at the 2026 Music City Invitational.
Trevecca made 16 birdies in each round Monday, producing 32 over the opening 36 holes.
The Trojans enter Tuesday five strokes behind sixth-place Southern Wesleyan and six behind fifth-place Barton.
