TOCCOA, Ga. - Paul Swanepoel closed with a one-under-par 71 Tuesday to finish tied for 13th, leading the Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Currahee Collegiate at Currahee Golf Club.
Trevecca finished the 54-hole event with an 878 (287-293-298) on the par-72, 7,382-yard McCoy Wright Tees. The 878 is the Trojans' lowest 54-hole team total of the 2026-27 season, improving on the 880 posted at the Griffin Invitational and the 884 at the Samuel T. Dunning Invitational.
The 13-team field included 72 golfers.
Swanepoel finished at even-par 216 (72-73-71), lowering his previous Trevecca career-best 54-hole total of 218 by two strokes.
He entered the final round tied for 28th before his 71 moved him 15 positions into a tie for 13th.
Swanepoel made five birdies Tuesday, giving him a team-high 13 birdies for the tournament. His final round included birdies at Nos. 2, 4, 5, 13 and 18.
His 216 is also his first par-or-better 54-hole tournament total as a Trojan. Swanepoel established a career-best 36-hole total of 145 with rounds of 72 and 73 Monday before completing the career-best tournament Tuesday.
Laird Williams finished tied for 24th at three-over-par 219 (72-72-75).
Laird's 219 lowers his previous Trevecca career-best 54-hole total of 221 by two strokes. He opened the tournament with consecutive even-par 72s, producing a career-best 144 through 36 holes.
Laird finished the tournament with 10 birdies, including nine during Monday's opening 36 holes.
Conner Williams finished tied for 27th at four-over-par 220 (70-73-77).
Conner's opening two-under-par 70 established his collegiate career low by five strokes and produced his first collegiate par-or-better round. His 143 through Monday's opening 36 holes also established a career best.
The freshman's final 220 lowers his previous collegiate-best 54-hole total of 234 by 14 strokes.
Conner finished the tournament with eight birdies.
Maddox Burton tied for 52nd at 228 (73-75-80). Burton added eight birdies during the tournament and continues to lead Trevecca with 31 birdies this season.
Wilson Borders tied for 57th at 231 (81-75-75). Borders improved six strokes from his opening round and posted matching 75s over the final two rounds.
More Trojan Notes
Trevecca's opening-round 287 was its second-lowest team round of the season and its second under-par round.
The Trojans followed with a 293 to reach 580 through 36 holes, also establishing a season best. The previous season-low 36-hole total was 583 at the Griffin Invitational.
Trevecca then closed with a 298 Tuesday to finish at 878, setting another season mark at the 54-hole distance.
The Trojans finished six strokes behind sixth-place Coker and two strokes ahead of eighth-place Belmont Abbey.
