Trevecca Track and Field | Records Fall, Trojans Deliver Historic University of Tennessee Invite

KNOXVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University track and field teams produced a record-setting and historically significant weekend at the University of Tennessee Invitational, combining for five program records, multiple personal bests, and a series of first-time performances across two days at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.

Friday's action set the tone with four program records on the women's side, while Saturday carried that momentum forward with another record and a milestone performance by the men's middle-distance group.

FRIDAY | FOUR PROGRAM RECORDS FALL

Trevecca opened the meet with a strong showing, highlighted by four program records, all on the women's side.

Hadar Biger continued her standout freshman season with a record-breaking performance in the 1,500-meter run. She posted a time of 4:44.89, finishing third among Division II competitors and breaking a Trevecca record that had stood for nearly a decade. The previous mark of 4:45.17 was set by Caroline Hampton on April 16, 2016.

Shaniya Hudson trimmed her own program record in the 200-meter dash, crossing in 26.61 seconds. Margaret Chauncy improved her program record in the pole vault, clearing 3.07 meters, and Campbell Johnson extended her javelin record with a throw of 38.63 meters, a mark that ranks among the top-100 in NCAA Division II this season.

On the men's side, Elijah Nicholson recorded a personal-best throw of 40.80 meters in the javelin, while Anthony Kosinski set a personal record of 17:28.96 in the 5,000 meters. Grant Allen (200m – 22.83), Juan Catalan (200m – 23.99), and Caleb Hinson (5,000m – 16:01.17) each improved their outdoor season-best marks.

SATURDAY | MEEKS LEADS HISTORIC 800M GROUP

Trevecca closed the weekend with another strong performance, highlighted by a program record and a first in program history in the men's 800 meters.

Caden Meeks delivered the top performance of the day, running 1:55.17 to break the program record, bettering the previous mark of 1:55.95 set in 2017. Meeks led a group of four Trojans who all broke the 2:00 barrier in the same race, the first time in program history that has been accomplished. He was joined by Harley Kirkpatrick (1:59.71), Garrett Wilson (1:59.82), and Blake Lance (1:59.93). Lance's time was a personal record, while Kirkpatrick posted a season best.

The women's 800 meters also produced strong results. Ximena Acosta (2:23.57) and Paiytin Valentine (2:46.41) each recorded personal bests, while Hope Ilias (2:32.37) posted a season-best time.

Additional season-best marks were recorded by Nina Willoughby in the 100-meter hurdles (19.17) and the men's 4x100 relay team of Calvin Wall, Leighton Varden, Dayton Floyd, and Zion Griffin (41.93). Hudson added a personal record in the 100 meters (12.79), and Lance recorded another personal best in the 400 meters (52.00).

Trevecca now turns its attention to a busy upcoming weekend, with athletes scheduled to compete at the Brian Clay Invitational (California), the Leopard Invitational (California), and the Rocket City (UAH / Huntsville) Invitational.
