BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Trevecca Nazarene University track and field teams completed their trip to the Gulf South Conference indoor championships, and after the performances of the women stole the show on Thursday, it was the men's turn on Friday.
Trevecca finished sixth in the GSC Championship men's team standings, and the Trojans finished seventh on the women's side. The Trojans had 14 points in the men's competition with 12 of those coming on Friday, while the women added two points on day two for a total of 13.5.
One men's record fell on day two of the Championships, and the Trojans grabbed a podium finish as well. Dayton Floyd cleared a height of 3.20 meters in the pole vault as a part of the men's heptathlon competition to set the new program record. On the track, Zion Griffin grabbed a third place finish in the 60 meter dash, marking the Trojans first podium finish of the event.
Griffin scored 6 points for the team with his finish, and Floyd scored a pair in the Heptathlon with a seventh place finish. The remaining points for the Trojans came in the relays, where the men scored four points with a fifth-place finish, and the women crossed the line seventh for two points.
