BIRMINGHAM — It was a light day for the Trevecca Nazarene University men's and women's track and field teams on Friday at the UAB Blazer Spring Invitational, but it was still a historic one. The Trojans only had 19 athletes compete on Friday across nine events, but one of those set a new program record.
Jack Jaeger posted a second-place finish in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, and he broke the TNU record by nearly four seconds. Six other Trojans had top 10 finishes in their events, and there was one other personal best that fell on the day.
Jaeger was one of four Division II athletes in the steeplechase - along with two runners from Alabama-Huntsville and teammate Anthony Kosinski. Jaeger crossed the line first of those runners in a time of 6:19.83, besting the previous program mark (6:23.31) set by Camren Warner at the 2019 Vanderbilt Black & Gold meet. Kosinski finished sixth in the event with a time of 7:25.71.
Hadar Biger finished seventh in the women's 1,500-meter run, placing her third all-time in Trevecca history in the 1,500m. Biger, a freshman, has her name behind only two legendary Trojan alums, Anna Hoffman and Caroline Hampton.
Ashley Alsvig posted a sixth-place finish in the women's 2,000-meter steeplechase. The other top 10 finishes came on the field, in the men's and women's Javelin and Hammer Throw. Landon Mason fired the hammer 43.91 meters, good for eighth best in the meet, and Dayton Floyd hurled the javelin 43.47 meters and finished eighth as well. In the women's javelin, Campbell Johnson finished seventh with a throw of 34.73 meters, and Sarah Arnold posted a personal best in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:19.62.
A full list of Trevecca results will be posted after the conclusion of the meet on Saturday.
