NASHVILLE – The Gulf South Conference announced its men's golf weekly awards presented by Athletic Solutions for performances for the week ending, Tuesday, March 17, with Weston Lowry of Trevecca Nazarene University earning GSC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Lowry previously earned the honor for play ending on Feb. 24.
Lowry and Maddox Burton led the Trojans at The SCAD Cup, played at Heron Bay Golf Club in Locust Grove, Georgia, finishing tied for fifth in a field of 37 golfers. The event, originally scheduled for 54 holes, was shortened to 36 holes due to weather.
The freshman from Lipscomb Academy in Nashville posted rounds of 78 and 72 to finish at six-over-par 150. His even-par 72 in the final round was one of two par-or-better scores recorded by Trevecca in the tournament.
Lowry was a key contributor to Trevecca's runner-up team finish. He tied for fourth in the field on par-four scoring (4.20 average) and finished tied for second on par-five scoring with a three-under-par average of 4.63.
As a team, Trevecca led the field on par-five holes (5.03 average), ranked second on par-three holes (3.23), and paced the tournament with 106 pars while adding 19 birdies.
Maddox Burton joined Lowry in a tie for fifth place, also finishing at 150 (+6), highlighted by a one-under-par 71 in the final round—the Trojans' lone red number of the event.
