ST. LOUIS – The Trevecca Nazarene University STUNT team (11-3, 5-1 GLVC), ranked No. 5 in last week's College STUNT Poll, split a pair of conference games Saturday at the Saints Invitational, hosted by Maryville University inside Moloney Arena at the Simon Athletic Center.

Trevecca opened the day with a 12-0 win over Southwest Baptist (0-2, 0-2 GLVC) before falling 22-16 to host Maryville (10-2, 4-0 GLVC) in a match up between two nationally ranked conference contenders.

The split moved the Trojans to 5-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

The Trevecca-Maryville meeting drew national attention, as the programs were picked first and second, respectively, in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Trevecca, which opened the year ranked No. 9 nationally, climbed to No. 3 in the first regular-season College STUNT Poll, briefly moving ahead of the Saints. Maryville, preseason No. 7, dropped to No. 9 before both teams shifted again last week, with Trevecca checking in at No. 5 and Maryville at No. 7.

GM 1: College STUNT No. 5 Trevecca 12, Southwest Baptist 0
Trevecca controlled the opener from start to finish, scoring two points in each of the first three quarters before doubling that total with six points in the fourth to complete the shutout.

The victory improved the Trojans to 2-0 all-time against the Bearcats, who were voted No. 8 in the GLVC preseason coaches' poll.

GM 2: College STUNT No. 7 Maryville 22, College STUNT No. 5 Trevecca 16
Maryville jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one quarter and carried a 7-5 advantage into halftime following an even 4-4 second period.

The Saints extended their lead in the third quarter, edging Trevecca 5-4 to take a 12-9 margin into the fourth. The Trojans attempted to close the gap late, but Maryville outscored TNU 10-7 in the final frame to secure the 22-16 win.

The result moved the Saints ahead 2-1 in the all-time series.

Trevecca returns to action Sunday, March 1, facing Drury University (5-5, 1-1 GLVC) at 10 a.m. before returning home. Drury was picked fifth in the GLVC preseason poll. The Trojans hold a 1-0 lead in the all-time series.
