DADE CITY, Fla. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team opened its spring schedule at the Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf Course. The course played to a par 72 over 7,121 yards.

The team and individual golfers recorded several historically relevant scores.

The Trojans finished 12th at the 54-hole event with an 867 (295-281-291). The team had a 576 through the first 36 holes. Their 54-hole, 36-hole and 18-hole scores rank among the top 10, respectively, in program history.

The Trojans combined to shoot a seven-under-par 281 in the second round. The round is tied for the seventh-lowest round in program history. The season-best round was fueled by three Trojans posting negative numbers: Wes Borders (-6), Maddox Burton (-2) and Weston Lowry (-1).

For Burton, his three-round total of 210 is tied for the fourth-best 54-hole total in school history. Burton has done it twice, previously shooting a 210 at the Cumberland Music City Collegiate in the fall of 2024. The school-record 54-hole total is 204, which has been recorded three times by three different golfers. Burton, who recorded a 204 at the Spring 2025 Music City Invitational, along with Blain Turner and Larken Whittemore, who both shot a 204 at the 2017-18 Mississippi College Invitational, have posted the school record.

For Borders, he scorched the course in the final round, carding one of the lowest scores in school history. His six-under-par 66 is tied for the third-lowest round in school history. Burton is the last Trojan to card a 66, doing so in the spring of 2025 at the Trevecca-hosted MCI. Burton has recorded a 66 twice. Only two rounds by two different golfers have come in lower than 66 in school history. Larken Whittemore holds the single-round record with a 64 at the Mississippi College Invitational during the 2017-18 season. Blain Turner carded a 65 at the Music City Invite during the 2018-19 season.

A trio of Trojans — Burton, Borders and Weston Lowry — combined to turn in five rounds in the red. Borders shot a 66 (-6) in the second round. Burton posted red numbers in all three rounds, shooting a 70 (-1) in the first round, 70 (-2) in the second round and a 69 (-3) in the third round. Lowry carded a 71 (-1) in the second round.

The field included 17 teams and 100 individual golfers.

His 16 birdies tied for third best in the field.

Tied for fourth in the field with a 2.83 (-2) average on the par three holes.

Wilson Borders

Tied for 11th on the par four holes with a 3.97 (-1) scoring average.

Tied for 11th in the field with 36 pars.
