PETERSBURG, Va. - The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team opened the 2025-26 season with 54-holes of golf at the Griffin Invitational Monday and Tuesday. The team faced its first test at the Country Club of Petersburg, which played to a par of 72 over a 7,125-yard layout.
The Trojans finished 12th with a 901 (303-295-303).
Lucas Barrett led the Trojans with a 12th place finish, carding a 223 (74-73-76) and opened the tournament with a round of 74 that included four birdies.
The field included 14 teams and 87 individual golfers.
TROJAN HIGHLIGHTS
Wilson Borders had the team low round, an even-par 72 in the second round. Borders wrote five birdies down in the round. Three of those birdies came on the back nine where he shot an two-under 34.
Alex Hamm tied for the fourth best average on the par three holes with an even-par (3.00) average.
Lucas Barrett finished No. 17 in the field on the par five holes with a three-under par (4.75) average.
The Trojans finished seventh in the field with 37 birdies. Lucas Barrett finished No. 15 in the field with his team-high nine (9) birdies. The rest of the Trojans - Wilson Borders (8), Weston Lowry (7), Maddux Burton (7), Alex Hamm (6).
UP NEXT
The Trojans head to the Samuel T. Dunning Invitational September 22-23 hosted by Delta State University at the Mossy Oak Golf Course in West Point, Mississippi.
In October, the team plays at a second Delta State University hosted event, this time the W. Derrall Foreman Invitational October 20-21 at the Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Miss.
The final fall event is the Citrus Intercollegiate hosted by the Nova Southeastern at the Champiosngate course in Championsgate, Florida October 27-28.
