NASHVILLE – Juluis Turnipseed IV, a freshman on the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojan track and field team, is the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week for the week ending, Sunday, April 6, 2025. It is the fourth time this season for the Kipp Nashville Collegiate product to earn the conference award.
His initial season on the Hill continues to be filled with several school records and NCAA provisional qualifying times.
This week, and the University of Tennessee Invitional, Turnipseed ran a school record 47.80 in the 400m Dash. It is not only a school record, but the second-best Gulf South time this season and the No. 3 best time in the NCAA DII South Region. It is the 33rd best time in all of NCAA DII this season.
He and the 4x400m relay team set a new school record, again, crossing the line at 3:16.32. The team - Lucas Baggott, Noel Chambers, Isaac Temko, and Julius Turnipseed IV recorded what is now the second-best time in the Gulf South this season and the sixth-best time in the NCAA DII South Region.
He currently has the ninth best 200m time in the Gulf South and is eleventh in the 100m. The 4x100m relay time is fourth best in the league.
During the indoor season he posted the second best 400m time (47.94) which was a NCAA Provisional Time.
Turnipseed and the Trojans are at the UAB Invitational this weekend.
