Trevecca STUNT | Trojans Second at Mid America West Conference Tourney; Two Named All MAWC

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Trevecca Nazarene University STUNT team (27-4), the second seed at the 2025 Mid America West Conference (MAWC) Tournament, won the losers bracket final, 18-4, over third seeded UT Martin (10-6) on Saturday afternoon. Trevecca is 3-0 all-time versus UT Martin.

The win moved the Trojans to the MAWC Championship game versus top-seeded University of Kentucky (27-1). The Wildcats dominated the Trojans, winning 23-4, sending the second-seeded Trojans back to Nashville as Mid America West Conference Runner-up. This is the fourth meeting all-time between UK and Trevecca in STUNT. Trevecca scored five points in yesterday's third all-time meeting, the most points they've scored against UK in the series.    

2025 ALL MID AMERICAN WEST CONFERENCE TEAM

The Trojans received the MAWC Runner-Up trophy as well as two 2025 Mid America West All-Conference selections: Mikayla McCoy (First Team) and Erica DeLaughter (Second Team).

MAWC GM 11 Recap

The Trojans took a 4-0 advantage in the first quarter that featured partner stunts. The two teams were even in the second quarter, making the score 7-3 at the half. Trevecca outscored UT Martin 4-0 in the jumps and tumbling third quarter. In the final quarter, team routine, the Trojans outpaced the Skyhawks 7-1 for an 18-4 win. 

MAWC GM 5 Recap 

The Wildcats took an early 3-2 advantage in the first quarter, with partner stunts. In the second quarter, Kentucky continued to build their lead, outscoring Trevecca 4-1, bringing the halftime score to 7-3 in favor of Kentucky. The third quarter saw Kentucky further extend their lead, outscoring Trevecca 4-1 in jumps and tumbling, making the score 11-4 heading into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Kentucky dominated the team routine, outscoring Trevecca 12-1 to secure a decisive 23-4 victory.

Trevecca is headed to the College STUNT Nationals to be held in Nashville at Lipscomb University April 24-27.

On Friday, Trevecca went 2-1 in day one play on Friday of the double-elimination tournament, advancing through to GM 11, the loser's bracket final.

Trevecca, the only non-NCAA Division I team in the conference, is ranked No. 5 in this week's College STUNT NCAA Division II poll, the highest ranking for the program during its first two seasons fielding a team. 

The Trojans went 18-9 overall in their first season last year and were 9-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season, earning them the No. 1 seed in the G-MAC Championships. The team advanced to the College STUNT NCAA Division II National Championships in their first season. The team reached a No. 6 national ranking last season. 

The Trojans finished the regular season 24-2 overall and 5-1 in MAWC league play, making them 42-11 overall and 14-2 all-time in conference play. 

There are a total of seven teams competing in the double-elimination championship, which concludes on Saturday.

Kentucky (24-1) earned the top seed for the championships and earned a first-round bye. 

MAWC Action begins Friday afternoon and starts again on Saturday morning with the 2025 MAWC STUNT Championship game is set for 2:30 CT (Game 12) on Saturday. 

An "if necessary" game would follow if the undefeated team loses Game #12.

STUNT is a head-to-head competition between two teams that focuses on the technical and athletic aspects of cheer. It is one of the fastest-growing female sports in the United States.
