Trevecca Track and Field | Strong West Coast Trip for Trojans

AZUSA, Calif. – The Trevecca Nazarene University Track & Field teams are in California this week with one final preparation for the 2025 Gulf South Championships. The team is split between the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium on the campus of Azusa Pacific University, the Leopard Invitational at Ortmayer Stadium on the campus of the University of La Verne, and the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State University at Jack Rose Track.

BCI Notes

FRIDAY

There's a new school record for the men's 4 x 400m relay team - Lucas Baggott, Noel Chambers, Dayton Floyd, Julius Turnipseed IV – who recorded a 3:15.91 time. It is the six best NCAA South region time and the 40th best in all of NCAA DII. It is the second-best Gulf South time this year.

Ruth Penney topped her Thursday effort in the 1500m run, producing a 4:52.82 and finished fourth overall. It is the fourth best 1500m time in school history.

THURSDAY

Joshua Novotny finished the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:26.36 which is the eleventh best 10K in Trevecca history. It is the tenth best 10K time in the Gulf South this season. It is the fifth best time for a freshman in the NCAA South Region.

Raegan Heldt ran a 2:18.67 in the 800m run. Her time makes her the second fastest in the 800m in school history. Her time is the sixth fastest behind only Anna Hoffman.

PCI Notes

Ruth Penney finished second in the 1500m run with a time of 4:53.80, giving her the fifth fastest time in school history.

Zion Griffin, who has the fastest 100m dash time this season in the Gulf South with a provo time of 10.44, ran the third fastest 100m time with a 10.727.

Leo Invite Notes

Campbell Johnson recorded a 4.48m effort in the long jump, giving her the best distance of the season for a Trojan.
