CLEVELAND - The Trevecca Nazarene University track and field teams finished the Lee University Invitational at the Ray Conn Sports Complex today with a number of strong performances. The team combined to break five school records, one Lee meet record, and two event wins.

 

Lucas Baggott set a Lee Invitational record and claimed the win with a 53.46 in the 400m hurdles. It is the second-best time this season in the Gulf South and the NCAA South Region.

 

The Trevecca 4x400m relay team set a new school record of 3:16.37. The team - Lucas Baggott, Noel Chambers, Isaac Temko, and Julius Turnipseed IV - finished second overall. Their time is the best in the Gulf South this season and fourth best in the NCAA South Region.

 

Julius Turnipseed IV set a new school record with a 48.15 time in the 400m dash. It is the fastest time in the Gulf South this season and the fifth fastest this year in the NCAA South Region.

 

Dayton Floyd set a school record in the decathlon with 5,489 points to finish fourth overall, breaking his record of 5,087 at the Lee Invitational one year ago. Floyd won the 1,500m run in the decathlon.

 

Jadon Hickman broke his own 110m hurdle school record, coming in at 16.39.

 

Zion Griffin broke his own school record in the 100m dash with a time of 10.71, finishing third in the race. His time is tied for the best 100m time in the Gulf South this season.

 

Nine Willoughby earned 2.639 points in the heptathlon, her best total and seventh best in program history. She placed fifth overall and ran the second-best 800m time at 2:40.16.

 

Caleb Hinson recorded one of the top 10 all-time outdoor 5,000k times in school history.

 

FRIDAY NOTES

Joshua Novotny finished third in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:28.71. His time makes him the third fastest in the 10K in Trevecca history. It is the second best 10K time for anyone in the NCAA South Region this year.
