CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf continued their strong day one play with a strong final round at the 2025 Derrall Foreman Invitational hosted by Delta State University at the Cleveland Country Club.
RD 3 Notes
The Trojans finished with a 303-280-291=874, moving up to fourth in the nine-team field. Sophomore Maddux Burton placed sixth after surging in the second round and doubling down with a strong final round. Burton finished at three-under-par 213 with a 74-69-70=213.
Maddux Burton led field on the par three holes with a five-under par average of 2.58. Burton converted the fifth most birdies with 12 over the three rounds.
Alex Hamm came in a stroke back of Maddux in eighth place with a two-under-par 72-69-73=214.
Alex Hamm shined on the par four holes, tying for third in the field with a three-under par average of 3.90 and was eighth in the field with 37 pars.
The Trojans combined to produce eight individual par-or-better rounds during the 54-hole event.
The 213 over the 54-hole gives Burton his second top-10 54-hole total in school history this year. He turned in a 210, tied for the third best 54-hole total earlier this season at the Music City Classic hosted by Cumberland at Hermitage Golf Course.
As a team, the Trojans finished tied for second on the par three holes with a 3.10 average. The team finished third in the field with a 4.17 average on the par four holes.
The team combined to record 45 birdies and 167 pars.

RD1/RD2 INDIVIDUAL NOTES
ALEX HAMM
Hamm, finished the championship with ten birdies. He had nine birdies over the first two rounds, recorded three birdies in the first round. In the second round, Hamm recorded six birdies.
Hamm upped his par-or-better rounds to four on the year.
The 214 is his best 54-hole result of the year.
LOGAN COOK
Cook marked eight birdies over the three-round event. He had two first round birdies on his way to five on Monday.
His 73 in the second round is his lowest round of the year.
Cook's 151 is his best 36-hole effort of the year and his 228 over the full event is his best 54-hole tournament score.
MADDOX BURTON
In all, he had seven birdies and an eagle through 36-holes.
He earned his fifth and sixth par-or-better rounds of the year.
THIBAU DELANGE
DeLange tied for the most pars in the field with 28 through 36 holes. In the second round he added three birdies while recording a two-under par 70. The 70 is his lowest round of the year and now has two par-or-better rounds on the season.
Thibau DeLange had a consistent short game, converting 40 of his 54 holes with a par.
WILSON BORDERS
Borders wrote down nine birdies on day championship, scratching out two in the first round, six in the second round, and one in the final round.
Borders second round even-par 72 is his lowest round of the year. His 151 through 36 holes is his best of the year as well.
His 227 over the 54-hole event is his lowest performance over a three-round event.
(i)KAI HIELCKERT
Kai Hielckert, playing as an individual, shot a two-under 70 in the first round with four birdies and an eagle.
He added four more birdies in the second round and one in the final round to reach nine for the championship.
He had ten red numbers, adding in his eagle, through the three-round event.
In addition to posting his best round of the year, his 151 through 36-holes and 227 through 54-holes are his best performances of the year.
TROJAN TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
RD 1 / RD 2 NOTES
The 141 by Alex Hamm through round two is lowest in 36-hole total for a Trojan since Blain Turner shot a 136 on April 5, 2022 through 36-holes at the Music City Invitational. That MCI proved to be a plentiful harvest of low scores for the program.
The current Trojans had their own harvest of low and red numbers. The eight-under par 280 in the second round is the fourth lowest round in program history. It is lowest team round since the 2021-22 team shot a 279 in the second round of the 2022 Music City Invitational (April 5, 2022).
Monday's team score of 583 through the second round is the lowest 36-hole team total since the 2021-22 team posted a 566 at the 2022 Music City Invitational.
Four Trojans recorded a red round on Monday. Three in the second round when they also wrote down an even par round.
Alex Hamm and Maddox Burton both shot a 69 in the second round and Thibau DeLange shot a 70. The fourth counting score in that round for the Trojans was an even-par 72 from Wilson Borders.
Kai Hielckert, playing as an individual, shot a two-under 70 in the first round.
UP NEXT
The Trojans have two more events, both in town, leading up to their first Gulf South Championships.
The Music City Invitational is next at the March 31 – April 1 at the Hermitage Golf Course on the General's Retreat.
The TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate is at the Hermitage Golf Course President's Reserve on April 7-8.
The Gulf South Conference Championships are April 17-19 at the Tunica National Golf Course in Tunica, Miss.
