NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University freshmen track and field athlete, Julius Turnipseed IV, is the Gulf South Male Overall Track and Freshmen of the Week.
The Nashvillian won the 400m non-Elite / Olympian section at the Jud Logan Life Giver Invitation last week. His time at the at Ashland University hosted event is 34th best time in NCAA Division II this season, second best time in the Gulf South this season, and the fourth best freshmen time in NCAA Division II. His 47.94 in the 400m is a new Trevecca record and is a nationals provisional qualifying time.
Additionally, Turnipseed, who attended Kipp Nashville Collegiate High School, ran the fourth leg of Trevecca men's 4x400 Relay team. Their 3:17.70 time at the Jud Logan placed them second in the race and set a new Trevecca record. Their time is just .7 off a national provisional qualifying time.
Turnipseed and the Trojans are headed to their first GSC Indoor Championships next week at The CrossPlex in Birmingham.
