LEXINGTON, Ky. – Trevecca Nazarene University Stunt (1-1, 1-1 MAWC) began its 2025 campaign at the Bluegrass Classic hosted by the University of Kentucky in the Historic Memorial Coliseum, securing a dominant 21-6 victory over UT Martin before falling 23-2 to the University of Kentucky on Saturday.
The Trojans are competing in the Mid America West Conference (MAWC) this season. A conference that includes the University of Kentucky, University of Tennessee at Martin, Mercyhurst University, Northern Kentucky University, Missouri State University, and the University of Central Arkansas.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1 // UT MARTIN
The Trojans started strong in their first match up of the day, controlling the tempo from the opening quarter against the NCAA Division I Skyhawks. Trevecca scored four points each in the first three quarters, setting the tone early going into the fourth quarter. A near-flawless performance in the fourth extended the lead to a 21-6 final.
The Trojan with the top rating was Kaitlyn Probus with 54. Abby Woodring (45), Mikayla McCoy (44), Katie Young (39), and Sakia Landrum (38) performed at a high level.
GM 2 // UNIV. OF KENTUCKY
Facing a tough challenge against NCAA Division I powerhouse, the University of Kentucky, the Trojans battled but were not able to gain momentum. The Wildcats executed with precision, limiting Trevecca's scoring opportunities while capitalizing on their own. Despite a strong effort of putting points on the board in the second and third quarters, the Trojans fell 23-2.
Mikayla McCoy, Sami Gardner, and Klaire Wilson led the Trojans with a rating of three each.
UP NEXT
On Sunday, the final day of the Bluegrass Classic, Trevecca opens against their biggest rival from their inaugural season, taking on the Eagles of Ashland University at 9:00 AM. A battle with Missouri Baptist University at 11:00 AM Sunday completes the Trojans Bluegrass Classic.
