Trevecca Track and Field | Four Records Set at Commodore Challenge

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University track and field teams kicked off their 2025 season at the Vanderbilt Commodore Challenge with four new school records on Saturday.

The originally scheduled two-day meet was shortened to encompass action all day Saturday due to the Friday snowstorm that swept across Middle Tennessee.

The meet featured a number of NCAA Division I programs from across the southeast and nation. In total, teams from Austin Peay, Belmont, Campbellsville (Tenn.), Indiana, Lindsey Wilson, Lipscomb, McNeese State, McPherson, MTSU, Murray State, Ole Miss, Southern Indiana, Southern Wesleyan, UT Martin, Vanderbilt and William Carey all competed.

MEET NOTES/RECORDS
* It is the first indoor meet to feature Trevecca athletes in the 600m run. Both Malachi Keefe and Juan Catalan crossed the finish line for the Trojans.

* Jadon Hickman set a new school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.21 beating out the previous time of 9.44 owned by Lucas Baggott since 2023.

* Jamelia Stovall collected a new school record in the 60m dash, crossing in 8.45, taking down a nearly eight-year record of 8.59 set by Madison Smith in 2016.

* Ava Skaggs produced a new school record in the 300m dash with a time of 45.66. She beat teammate Chane de Beer's 2024 mark by close to a second (46.55).

* Dayton Floyd, Lucas Baggott, Isaac Temko, and Julius Turnipseed IV ran a four second school record collectively in the 4x400m relay with a 3:19.02. This effort is the best in indoor program history by four seconds and overall indoor and outdoor combined by one.

* Dayton Floyd's long jump effort of 6.38m ranks second in school history behind his own mark of 6.49m set last season. The sophomore owns the top three and six of the top 10 best long jumps in Trevecca indoor history.

* Campbell Johnson's performance in the 60m hurdles (10.53) is good for second best in school history. Sydney Burdge set the school record of 10.40 in 2019.

* Mathias Cheboi won the 5,000m run with a time of 16:16.19 edging out Lipscomb's Matthew Hansen who did not finish the race.
