HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene University cross country teams competed in its first-ever NCAA South Regionals on Saturday, taking on the John C. Hunt cross country course for the second time this season.

TROJAN MEN / 10K
The men's side finished 13th of 20 with Joshua Novotny running a team-best 33:41.7. Novotny, a GSC Freshman of the Week candidate, placed 55th overall in a field of 130+ harriers. Novotny was just 16 seconds shy of a top 50 finish.

Shane West was the closest Trojan to collecting a PR today, breaking under 35 minutes for a second-place team finish. West came within just .77 seconds of his previous best also set in the NCAA Regionals last year. 

Today's 13th place finish for the men ties the 2015 team who also placed 13th as one of the highest finishes in school history. The 2014 squad placed one better, 12th, for the best performance in an NCAA Regional in school history. In 2015, the Trojans collected a team score of 333 while the 2014 squad held a score of 357.

TROJAN WOMEN / 6K 
The women's team placed 12th of 15 teams with Remmy Arney producing a team-best 23:34.0. Arney finished as the top Trojan for the fourth meet of the season and was just seven seconds from recording a PR.

Ximena Acosta shattered her PR by over 36 seconds for fifth-place team finish. Acosta crossed the line in 25:12.4, or 81st overall.

Today's 12th place finish for the women is by far the best in program history. In total, today's results were the fifth time a Trevecca women's team has placed in the top 20 in a Regionals while simultaneously being the only team ever to record a top 15 finish. Both the 2014 and 2016 Trojans finished 16th while the 2015 Trevecca team was 18th and 2017 team were 17th place finishers.
