NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University cross country teams hosted the fourth Michael Pretorious Invitational the event honors the life of program alum Michael Pretorius. Pretorius passed away in the summer of 2022 after a second battle with cancer.
The men combined to finish second in the field, only coming in behind NCAA Division I Lipscomb University. The Trojans averaged 27:24 as a team with a time of 2:16.57.
The women game in fourth with an average time of 20:12 and combined for a time of 1:40:57.
The men were led for the second meet in a row by sophomore Caleb Hinson who covered the course in 26:07.8 to place eighth overall.
One the women's side, freshman Hadar Biger recorded a team-best time of 19:41.0 to place 13th overall.
The event featured the women covering a 5,000m at the Vaughn's Gap Course at Percy Warner Park and the men were tested over 8,000m.

WOMEN'S NOTES
TNU head coach Austin Selby said about the women's performance, "Proud of how we competed today. I told the team before the race to go after the person in front of them, to be competitive, and they did exactly that from the gun. In both races this season we improved on last year and in warmer conditions and this week, on a tougher course. I really like how this group is working its way into form early. I'm looking forward to them seeing the pay off at the end of the season.

MEN'S NOTES
What a great showing after a week we didn't come off the gas in training. Many of our guys clocked faster times this year than in 2024 and in much warmer conditions today. A real lift was seeing some guys recovering from injury open up as well. A second place result is really good, as much as we'd love to win the home meet, Lipscomb is a very talented NCAA Division I team with legit nationals aspirations. We are grateful Bisons head coach Nick Polk continues to support our meet and attend.
