DICKSON, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team finished second at the Music City Collegiate hosted by Cumberland University at Greystone Golf Course. Maddox Burton came in as the tournament Medalist with a 66-75-69-210.
The Trojans shot 285-293-291=869. It is tied for the fifth-best total in school history.
For Burton, his three round total is tied for the third best 54-hole total in school history. Only Blain Turner and Larken Whittemore, who both shot a 204 at the 2017-18 Mississippi College Invitational, have shot lower.
Burton scorched the course in the first round, carding one of the lowest scores in school history. Burton shot a six-under-par 66. Only two rounds have come in lower in school history. Larken Whittemore holds the single round record with a 64 at the Mississippi College Invitational during the 2017-18 season. Blain Turner carded a 65 at the Music City Invite during the 2018-19 season.
His 75 in the second round on Monday afternoon placed him third overall at three-under 141 heading into Tuesday's final round.
Burton gained ground throughout the third round. Starting on hole No. 1, Burton birdied the par five No. 2 and finished one-under on the front nine. On the back nine, he birdied No. 12 and 13 before getting his fourth birdie of the round No. 17. He finished two under on the back nine.
Burton wasn't the only Trojan carding low scores, the team combined to shoot a three-under-par 285 in the first round, which led the field of 19 team by three strokes.
The Trojans combined to post six par-or-better rounds over the three rounds.
On Monday Lucas Barrett went low with a three-under-par 69 in the second round.
Josh Breland and Alex Hamm each turned in an even-par round on Monday. Thibau DeLange shot an even-par 72 in the final round.
The Trojans 285-293=578 through 36-holes is the 14th best 36-hole total in program history. It gave them a one-stroke lead through 36-holes.

MADDOX BURTON
Burton finished with the best par five average in the field, averaging 4.42 for the 54-hole event. He had the third best average on the par four holes with a 3.93 average.
He led the field with 18 birdies while turning in his six-under-par 66-75-69=210. He had 25 pars, meaning he birdied or parred 43 of the 54 holes.
Burton tore up the course in the first round with nine birdies on his way to the third best score in school history. He added another five birdies in the second round
ALEX HAMM
Hamm had a two-birdie opening round shooting an even-par 72. His steady score included 14 pars. His round tied him for 13th of the 104 golfers through 18.
In the second round Hamm added four birdies and an eagle. His eagle is the second of the day for the Trojans.
Hamm finished with nine birdies. He collected 33 pars in addition to the birdies and eagle.
LUCAS BARRETT
Barrett shot three over part in the morning round on Monday, with a birdie 13 pars. He was tied for 37th overall through 18 holes.
In the second round, Barrett carded five birdies.
Barrett finished with six birdies. He tied De Lange for the team lead with 36 pars.
JOSH BRELAND
Breland carded an eagle and two birdies in Monday's opening round. He finished round one with an even-par 72. His round tied him for 13th of the 104 golfers through 18.
Breland finished with four birdies and an eagle. He turned in 32 pars.
THIBAU DELANGE
DeLange carded a birdie and 13 pars. He shot even-par on the front nine, carding all pars. He was tied for 75th through 18 holes.
DeLange added two birdies to his totals in the second round and has three headed to the final round.
DeLange finished with six birdies. He tied Barrett for the team lead with 36 pars.
TROJAN TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
The team finished second in the field on the par four holes with a 4.08 average.
The team finished tied for the most eagles, two with both coming in the first two rounds on Monday.
The team combined to record 15 birdies and an eagle over the first 18 holes on Monday morning and added 16 birdies and an eagle during the afternoon second round. In Tuesday's third round, the team added 12 birdies.
For the tournament, the team collected 43 birdies and two eagles.
