DICKSON, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team leads the Music City Collegiate hosted by Cumberland University at Greystone Golf Course after two rounds.
Maddox Burton scorched the course in the first round, carding one of the lowest scores in school history. Burton shot a six-under-par 66. Only two rounds have come in lower in school history. Larken Whittemore holds the single round record with a 64 at the Mississippi College Invitational during the 2017-18 season. Blain Turner carded a 65 at the Music City Invite during the 2018-19 season.
Burton led the field of 104 golfers by one stroke through 18 holes. He snared a 75 in the second round, giving him a three-under 141 for the tournament, good enough for third overall heading into Tuesday's final round.
Burton wasn't the only Trojan carding low scores, the team combined to shoot a three-under-par 285 in the first round, which led the field of 19 team by three strokes.
Four Trojans posted par-or-better rounds on the day.
In the second round, Lucas Barrett went low with a three-under-par 69. Paired with his first round 75, Barrett is even-par for the tournament.
Josh Breland and Alex Hamm each turned in an even-par round on the day.
The Trojans opened play at the 54-hole tournament with a 285-293=578. The 578 is the 14th best 36-hole total in program history. They lead the field by one stroke. Ottawa University Arizona is second.
The Trojans have two in the top 10 with Maddox Burton third and Lucas Barrett ninth. Alex Hamm is just outside the top 10 in 12th.

MADDOX BURTON
Burton tore up the course in the first round with nine birdies on his way to the third best score in school history.
Burton added another five birdies in the second round
He has 14 birdies over the first 36 holes with a three-under 66-75=141.
ALEX HAMM
Hamm had a two-birdie opening round shooting an even-par 72. His steady score included 14 pars. His round tied him for 13th of the 104 golfers through 18.
In the second round Hamm added four birdies and an eagle. His eagle is the second of the day for the Trojans.
Hamm has six birdies on the tournament is sits one over par heading into the final round.
LUCAS BARRETT
Barrett shot three over part in the morning round on Monday, with a birdie 13 pars. He was tied for 37th overall through 18 holes.
In the second round, Barrett carded five birdies.
He has four birdies on the tournament.
JOSH BRELAND
Breland carded an eagle and two birdies in Monday's opening round. He finished round one with an even-par 72. His round tied him for 13th of the 104 golfers through 18.
Breland added a birdie in the second round and has three birdies and an eagle through 36 holes.
THIBAU DELANGE
DeLange carded a birdie and 13 pars. He shot even-par on the front nine, carding all pars. He was tied for 75th through 18 holes.
DeLange added two birdies to his totals in the second round and has three headed to the final round.
He's recorded a par on 23 of the 36 holes.
TROJAN TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
The team combined to record 15 birdies and an eagle over the first 18 holes on Monday. In the afternoon round, the Trojans added 16 birdies and an eagle.
Through 36 holes, the Trojans have 31 birdies and two eagles.
UP NEXT
The team plays the final round of the Cumberland University Music City Collegiate on Tuesday at Greystone Golf Course.
The final fall event is at the ChampionsGate Golf Club in Championsgate, Florida Oct. 28-29 at the Citrus Intercollegiate.
